The historical root of humanistic studies is the
philosophy of humanism which had its root on the
ancient belief that, as Protagoras said, “Man is the
measure of all things.” During the Renaissance, people
reflected about themselves as a part of humanity
(anthropocentric), not as a part of nature (cosmocentric)
nor a part of divine authority (theocentric). During the
modern period, there was the rise of science and the
advancement of technology (scientific-technocentric).
Now, in this postmodern period, human beings are seen
to be merely one among the collections of things
(ecclectic), but, powerful to determine themselves and
the world.

ENGLISH

perception
Aethetics is a branch of philosophy. The
word “aesthetics” was first employed by
Alexander Baumgarten to mean “the science
of sensory perception.” Particularly, he used
it to denote a realm of concrete knowledge,
as distinct from abstract, in which a content
is communicated in sensory forms.
