ABSTRACT
 Electric vehicle (EV) is a vehicle powered by an
electric motor, instead of an IC engine

 Today’s automobile world is influenced by invention

of modern electric cars.

 The manufacture of electric vehicles is becoming

important with the rising cost of petrol and diesel.

 The effect of emissions from petrol&diesel powered

vehicles on our environment will be reduced.
Batteries can be charged, the project is more
economical to middle class people’s.

The existing vehicles are replaced by an all-electric

components which are redesigned in a manner
which will improve the efficiency of the vehicle.
INTRODUCTION
 Electric vehicles are automobiles, which are powered
by the electric engine and electric energy.

 The development of the electric vehicles is very

perspective and important process.

 The future of automobiles completely depends on

electric vehicles.

 Electric cars are mechanically simpler and more

durable than gasoline-powered cars.
HISTORY OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE
 1832:Robert Anderson invents a non-rechargeable
electric carriage.

 1835:Thomas Davenport builds the first practical

electric vehicle.

 In 1837 Robert Davidson of Scotland appears to

have the builder of the first electric car.

 In 1901 Thomas Edison works to develop better

Electric vehicle batteries.
 In 1973 General Motors unveils prototype for urban
electric vehicle.

 1976:General Electric was chosen to construct a parallel

sedan, and Toyota built its first hybrid car.

 In 1996 ,the first Indian electric vehicle (three

wheeler)VIKRAM SAFA was developed by scooter India
Pvt Ltd.

 In 2001 REVA entered the Electric Vehicle sector in the

car industry with a vehicle developed by American
company.
COMPONENTS

 Chassis
 Steering
 Braking
 Accelerator
 Motor
 Controller
 Battery
 Chain drive
CHASSIS
 The function of the chassis
is to provide safety for
passengers and a stable
platform for mounting
motor,controller,transmission
and other components.
 It consists of the frame,
suspension,axles,brakes,
wheels,tires,and steering
mechanism.
3D Modeling of chassis
STEERING
We used four bar
steering mechanism.
It consists of pin joints
or hinge joints.
Steering is the
collection of
components,linkages
etc..The primary purpose
of the steering system is
to allow the driver to
guide the vehicle.
BRAKING
The brakes used in this
electric vehicle is drum
brakes which are very
flexible.
In this electric vehicle
brake pedal is located at
right side floor beneath the
steering wheel.
This braking use to stop
the vehicle or to reduce the
speed of vehicle
ACCELERATOR
The accelerator is also
know as gas pedal.
It is the pedal located on
the floor on the far left.
It controls the speed of
the vehicle.
In this electric vehicle
there modes of speed
controll
LOW,MEDIUM,HIGH.
MOTOR
 Motor is used to convert
the electrical energy into
mechanical energy.

SPECIFICATIONS
 Voltage:-DC 48V
 Current:-13.5amp
 Power:- 750W
 Speed:- 500r/min
CONTROLLER
 An ECU is an
embedded system in
automotive electronics
that controls one or
more electric system in
vehicles.
SPECIFICATIONS
 Voltage:-42v to48v
 Current:-28A
 Motor sensors are
controlled by controll
unit.
BATTERY
Battery specification
Lithium
battery:48v/28Ah
Charging time:4-5 hours
Batteries weight :6.3 kg
Operating
voltage:35.1vto 54.6v
Rechargeable batteries
used in electric vehicles
which is connected to
motor and controller.
CHAIN DRIVE

Chain drive is a way of

transmitting mechanical
power from one place to
another.
It is often used to
convey power to the
wheels of a vehicle using
a chain.
REVERSE SWITCH
 We can move this
electric vehicle in
reverse direction.
 The electric motor
consists of sensors.
 The sensor wires are
connected to controller.
 Switch is connected to
controller by switching
on we can move the
vehicle backward.

LUGGAGE CARRIER

• Luggage carrier is used

to carry goods.
• In this electric vehicle
the luggage carrier can
bear upto 70 kgs.
• It is very easy to keep
and take the goods in
this luggage carrier
ADVANTAGES

 Reduce dependence on oil and gasoline.

 Pollutants free.
 Noise free.
 Recyclable batteries.
 No fire hazards.
 Low maintenance.
 More efficiency.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Brake
Horn
Side mirrors
Indicators
Fan to cool the motor when it gets heat up
Automatic locking
FUTURE SCOPE
 In future we can use
solar panels to charge
the battery without
using electricity to save
electric energy.
 We can remove
steering wheel and we
can add handle to this
electric vehicle so that
it is very useful to
handicapped people.
CONCLUSION
• As electric vehicles become more popular, the
advances on its technology has become
further and further towards an even more
environmentally safe, efficient.
• The development of batteries that do not
damage the environment is progressing
towards a battery that can run a vehicle for
longer periods of time.
