LEVEL I WATER SUPPLY– HAND PUMP

Location: Barangay Guiddam, Abulug, Cagayan
Designers: Gomez, Raheemah and Payongayong, Francis
PROJECT BACKGROUND
LOCATION

• Guiddam is a barangay in the

municipality of Abulug, in the province
of Cagayan.
• It is situated at approximately
18.3333, 121.4571, in the island of
Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates
is estimated at 6.9 meters or 22.6 feet
above mean sea level.
LOCATION
AVAILABLE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
• Type Water Supply System: Level I
DEMOGRAPHICS
• Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 3,317. This represented 10.21%
of the total population of Abulug.
• According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the highest population in Guiddam
is 5 to 9, with 407 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population
is 75 to 79, with 38 individuals.
PRELIMINARY ISSUES
1. Odor
2. Turbid (Presence of silt/clay)
3. Presence of rust
OBJECTIVES
a. To provide safe and potable water supply
b. To design a water purification system for the Level I Water Supply in Brgy. Guiddam
by applying the different laws and standards related to water supply.
c. To provide adequate water supply that meets the population demand
d. To allow better accessibility of water by enhancing the water supply level I to level II.
BASIS OF DESIGN: CODES AND STANDARDS
• Sanitation Code of the Philippines (PD 856)
• Chapter II of PD 856

• RA 9275 (Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004)

• Protection, preservation and revival of the quality of our water

• Uniform Plumbing Code of the Philippines

• Residual pressures and pipe sizing of Water Supply Level II

• RA 6716 (Accelerated Water Supply Program)

• An act providing for the construction of water wells, rainwater collectors, development of springs and
rehabilitation of existing water wells in all barangays in the philippines
BASIS OF DESIGN: CODES AND STANDARDS

DESIGN CONCEPT
WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
• By improving the water supply system to level II, the projected water demand in the
next 10 years must be accommodated.
• The water supply system must also use piping systems to transport water from the
source to the storage tank.
• From the storage tank, the water will be distributed to each household, ranging from
4-6 households.
WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM
• Raw water from the hand pump will be purified to remove contaminants and to meet
the standards and laws of potable water.
