Domain I — School Community Leadership
Competency 1
• How you addressed this competency? I had several
opportunities to address this competency through parental
involvement, STAAR night, STEM night, Children Houston Museum
Night. I had the opportunity of interacting with parents and
stakeholders in our community.
• What you learned about this competency? Is important to build
relations with our parents, students, community stakeholders, and
students. Once these relationships are set and there is mutual
trust and respect unimaginable alliances are made.
• What you still have to learn? I feel that with different age groups
of parents one has to use different vocabulary are the
articulation also changes and that is important to parents.

Competency 2
• How you addressed this competency? I have been successful in this
competency because I have had the opportunity with translating for
several parents nights and parent letters. I have also been in charged
of our social media tweeter for different events such as the Children
Houston Museum Nights along with being recorded by the district to
create model videos of implementation of new curriculum.

• What you learned about this competency? It is important to have


effective communication skills with all of our stakeholder so that we are
able to have successful events and partnerships.

• What you still have to learn? I would still be growing as a professional


and continue learning about word choice for communicating
effectevly.

Competency 3
• How you addressed this competency? I implement this competency
on a daily basis by being a professional and arriving on time, dressing
professionally, and having respectful relationships with co-workers,
students, and parents. As a skills specialist I am able to advocate for all
children and their needs.

• What you learned about this competency? When we advocate for


the needs of our students most likely someone else is advocating for
similar or the same things usually one will never be the only one doing
so.

• What you still have to learn? I believe that something I will continue to
grow in this competency will be the constant growth of knowledge in
the new laws and being updated to best serve our students.
Domain II − Instructional Leadership
Competency 4
• How you addressed this competency? I sever as a Bilingual Curriculum
Writer for the district as well as a presenter with that I am required to do
research on the best methods, books, and recourses available for our
teachers. I have also served as a model classroom to be recorded for
the implementation of new curriculum to facilitate for teachers across
district.

• What you learned about this competency? One has to be current with
new state standards and constantly doing research on effective
methods and materials for classroom teachers.

• What you still have to learn? Now that I am seeking positions that
require me to advocate for several grade levels I will have to become
aware of materials that are beneficial for those grade levels.

Competency 5
• How you addressed this competency? I was able to address this
component in different ways, I was able to present for our school
the use of different online recourses that are available to our
district. Also, I was overseen lesson plans for our first year teacher
in first grade to ensure high-quality instruction.
• What you learned about this competency? I learned that
summative and formative assessments have the same
importance and that one must have alignment of the current
curriculum as well as a tracking system for both.
• What you still have to learn? I am still learning about analyzing
data and including all factors that have positive and negative
impact towards it.

Competency 6
• How you addressed this competency? I have been given the
opportunity to work closely with grade level teachers, other skill
specialist, assistant principals, and the principal in order to
collaborate and organize learning experiences for our students.
• What you learned about this competency? When implementing
something such as an afterschool program or Saturday school
one must collaborate effectively. One must have a needs
assessment and data driven decisions for success.
• What you still have to learn? I will continue to learn about
effective and appropriate screening, selection, assignments of
teachers.

Competency 7
• How you addressed this competency? I have been gathering
data from different sources that our campus has to be informed
about the performance of the Bilingual/ ESL students. (Google
document, Google Spreadsheets, Lead4ward and Eduphoria.)
• What you learned about this competency? It is important to look
at data and analyze it from different standpoints as well as
looking and factors that might have had positive and negative
results towards the data.
• What you still have to learn? I have to learn effective and
positive way to monitor and evaluate data to be able to obtain
the goals set.
Domain III — Administrative Leadership
Competency 8
• How you addressed this competency? We have had a shortage of
staff and with that and our budget the leadership team has had to
come together in different occasions to make decisions on the
reassignments of staff.
• What you learned about this competency? I know with managing of
allocated funds one is allowed to purchase specific things from
specific funds. One must be carful and verify what is allowable to be
purchased.
• What you still have to learn? I feel that this competency would be the
one where I would focus the most because I am not as comfortable to
make input towards budget planning and management. I know this is
an area of growth for me that I will be seeking professional
developments and collaboration with my assistant principals and
principal to gain more knowledge in this area.
Domain III — Administrative Leadership
Competency 9
• How you addressed this competency? I have been part of the crisis
team for our school as well as having the opportunity to be in charge
of a Fire drill and the procedures and process that go along with it.

• What you learned about this competency? One must inform and
report all crisis to district personal as soon as the situation has been
taken care of this allows for them to be informed of any situations
incase of arising need or parent awareness.

• What you still have to learn? I am still growing in becoming


knowledgeable of the process for implementing strategies that enable
the school physical plant which for the most part is district personal but
as administrators we are the ones that advocate the needs of our
plant.
