• Descriptive statistics is a branch of statistics
devoted to the organization, summarization and
description of data.
• Inferential statistics is the branch of statistics
concerned with using sample data to make
inference about a population.
• In inferential statistics predictions are made and
conclusions are drawn for the target population
based on sample.
Descriptive Statistics

• Used to analyze and represent data that have


been previously collected.

• It includes frequency, means, modes, median


scores, and standard deviations.
Inferential statistics
• Inferential statistics are used to draw conclusions and
make predictions based on the descriptions of data.
• Important terms to understand it are:
• Experiments
• Probability
• Population
• Sampling
