Basics of Human Nature
Human skills – involve the ability to work well with
other people both individually and in group.

Human Nature – refers to the distinguishing


characteristics, including ways of thinking, feeling and
acting that humans tend to have naturally.
Human Needs of the mind,
body, and spirit:
The Mind The Body
• Competence. • Happy and healthy lifestyle.
• Attitude. • Safe and secure working environment.

• Motivation.
The Spirit
• Self-actualization.
• Moral values.
Employees are Human

oPride in work- pride in one’s work is a basic expression


of individual dignity

oAcceptance by fellow employees- He


wants and needs the acceptance and approval of his fellow
employees.
Psychology of Workplace

– Positive psychology in the workplace is about shifting


attention away from negative aspects such as work
violence, stress, burnout, and job insecurity.
– Employers who understand the link between employee
well-being and organizational performance strived to
maintain work environment characterized by openness,
fairness, trust, and respect, even when difficult actions
were required.
Employee Involvement

 Efforts to increase employee involvement empower workers,


involve them in decision-making and give them increased job
autonomy. Employee involvement programs can increase job
satisfaction, employee morale, and commitment to the
organization as well as increase productivity, reduce turnover and
absenteeism and enhance the quality of products and services.
Employee Recognition

Employee Recognition efforts reward employees both individually and collectively


for their contributions to the organization. Recognition can take various forms:
formal and informal, monetary and non-monetary.
By acknowledging employees efforts and making them feel valued and appreciated,
organizations can increase employee satisfaction, morale and self-esteem.
Additionally, the organization itself may benefit from greater employee
engagement and productivity, lower turnover and the ability to attract and retain
top-quality employees.
Counseling

Counseling is a means of getting people to do the right things in their


job and in their personal lives.
Two techniques in counseling
– Directive Counseling approach someone gives advice and
guidance.
– Nondirective counseling approach the counselor gives neither
advice nor guidance but assists the other person to work out
solutions to their own problems.
Success is no accident. It is
hard work, perseverance,
learning, studying, sacrifice
and most of all, love of what
you are doing or learning to
do.
