INTRODUCTION
• Road accidents are an outcome of various factors such as length of road networks ,
vehicle population, human population and road safety regulations etc. Road safety
has become an issue of concern both at national and international levels.
• India is one of the highest motorization growths in the world accompanied by rapid
expansion of road networks. the analysis of road accidents show that in year 2016 it
was recorded 4,80,652 accidents, leading to 1,50,785 deaths.
• The number suggests that at least 413 people died everyday in 1,317 road
accidents.
• A Korean based company invented a new concept called the rolling barriers and it
was installed at two downgraded and curved roads in Busan, the accidents were
reduced by 50% in a year. this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of rolling
barriers and understand the rolling barriers features.

What is a barrier?
Barrier or guard rails are structures that keep vehicles within their
road way and prevent vehicles from colliding with dangerous
obstacles .
FUNCTION OF A BARRIER
• Accidents are the errors of humans while using motor vehicles and
also nature creates problems like rain causing slippery roads.
• Ultimately life is more precious then vehicles but when it comes
to rolling barrier system usage, it saves life and also prevents
maximum damage to the vehicles.
• Rolling barriers will not only reduce the impact of collision but
also help in redirecting to the actual path, by converting impact
energy into rotational energy.
