USING EXTINGUISHERS

• Keep the wind behind you; • Squeeze the lever;


• Remove the safety pin; • Keep low as you move forwards;
• Point the nozzle towards the fire; • Aim towards the base of the fire.

PERSONAL SAFETY

ONLY TRY AND TACKLE THE FIRE IF SAFE TO DO SO;

MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT ALONE;

POSITION YOURSELF ON A CLEAR ESCAPE ROUTE;

USE THE CORRECT EXTINGUISHER;

NO WATER OR FOAM ON ELECTRICAL FIRES;

KEEP LOW TO AVOID INHALING TOXIC SMOKE;

TOXIC SMOKE CAN KILL YOU !

IF THE FIRE CONTINUES – GET OUT !

FIRE WARNING SYSTEM

• Type of system;

INITIAL ACTION

• Raise the alarm;


• Tell the Control Room immediately;
• Try and attack the fire if safe to do so;
• Clear the immediate area;
• Get a colleague to back you up;
• Assist with any evacuation;
• Maintain your own safe escape route;
• Update the Control Room regularly;
• Proceed to the Assembly Point. 33
