production in the
economic sector.
HALLYU’S INTERNATIONAL
EVOLUTION
• Korean Dramas run high on
family values and absolutely no
mature content.
• South Korea is an expertise in
plastic surgery.
• ‘Power’, a song by the world‘s
biggest boyband was played at
the Dubai Fountain.
• BTS, the Korean boyband
taking over the world are
ambassadors of UNICEF.
• The three top entertainment
labels in South Korea today
are: SM Entertainment, YG
Entertainment and JYP
Entertainment.
PSY‘S GANGNAM
STYLE
• PSY’S Gangnam Style
was a breakthrough for
Korean Music.
• The famous dance
move became the move
of 2012.
• Ban Ki Moon
recognised it as a step
to world peace.
• It was the first YouTube
video to reach one
billion views.
• The move was imitated
by a number of
celebrities including,
Former US President,
Barack Obama; Hugh
Jackman ; UN
Secretary General, Ban
Ki Moon and many
others.
SEO TAIJI AND BOYS
• SEO Taiji and Boys
changed the concept of
Korean music and
entertainment.
• They became the
fashion icons for the
youth.
• They introduced
South Korea to Hip-
hop culture.
• One of its former
members, Yang Hyun
Suk is the founder of
Y.G. Entertainment.
• Their songs had unique
and teen-oriented
themes.
DESCENDANTS
OF THE SUN
• One of the rarest K-Dramas
to have a theme which
touched the sensitive issue of
the conflict between South
and North Korea.
• It portrayed the growth of
South Korea amidst inner
conflicts and wars.
• It managed to interest
Thailand’s Prime Minister,
Mr Prayuth Chan-ocha.
• The show was sold to 27
countries and translated into
32 different languages.
• The drama shows how
different yet similar are the
ideologies of a doctor and a
soldier.
K-POP IN INDIA
• Even if not at par with
Bollywood or Western
music, there are still
substantial number of K-
Pop fans in India.

fandom activities.

contains more fans of K-
