◎ Principios del Riego por
Goteo
Uno de los primeros usos fue en la
producción de tomate en Inglaterra
entre 1945 y 1948, en el cual el agua
era proporcionada empleando
tuberías delgadas de plástico entre
las hileras de tomate con boquillas
tipo rosca que permitían regular la
descarga entre 1 y 21 L/h. Un
desarrollo similar ocurrió en los
Estados Unidos de Norte América e
Israel.
◎ Definición
El riego por goteo consiste
actualmente en una serie de tubos de
platicos, de calibre pequeño, en la
que se colocan a lo largo de las
hileras de las plantas (cultivo), para
entregar de forma lenta pero
frecuente al sistema radicular, por
medio de dispositivos apropiados
llamados goteros o emisores. Todo el
sistema está conectado, con el
objetivo de suministrar el agua al
campo, de manera lenta y uniforme.
Es una alternativa a los sistemas de
riego por aspersores o surcos.
 CRITERIOS DE SELECCIÓN
Se generan con el propósito de poder lograr que la producción del

cultivo alcance su máxima eficiencia, máximos beneficios sin
causar daños al medio ambiente. Se relacionan con el tipo de
cultivo, tipo de suelo, su topografía y la disponibilidad de agua.
