ABSTRACT
The research aimed to determine the effects of the student
factor and curriculum implementation on Palawan State
University graduates in Civil Engineering Licensure Exam. The
respondents of the study were the graduates of Bachelor of
Science in Civil Engineering on Palawan State University who
took the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination for the first
time in the month of November from the year 2015 to 2017.
Online survey questionnaire was the primary tool that was used
in gathering data. Pearson’s correlation was used in
determining the relationship between the performance in CE
ABSTRACT
Licensure Examination and student factor and curriculum
implementation. The results showed that the student factor has
a slight positive effect in the performance in the CE Licensure
Examination. The general weighted average of the graduates
has a high positive effect on passing the CE Licensure
Examination. The implementation of curriculum as perceived by
the graduates does not have an effect to the passing rate of a
Civil Engineering student who graduated on Palawan State
University in CE Licensure Examination. In addition, the syllabi of
the instructors are satisfactorily complying with the CHED
Memorandum Order no. 29 series of 2007.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The researchers would like to express their sincerest and
deepest gratitude and appreciation for the time and efforts of
the following individuals who provided guidance, support, and
inspiration that made the completion of this work possible.
To their adviser, Engr. Nena G. Zara, for her support and
guidance throughout the duration of the research study.
The first takers of the November 2015 to 2017 Civil
Engineering Licensure Examination from Palawan State
University who gave their time and effort in answering our
online survey questionnaire.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

CONCLUSION
 The student factor defined in the study
has a slight positive effect in the passing
rate of the Civil Engineering Graduates of
Palawan State University who took the
Licensure Examination for the first time on
November 2015, 2016 and 2017.
CONCLUSION
 Specifically, the aspects Priority and
Time Management, and Study Tools and
Techniques do not have significant
relationship on passing the Civil
Engineering Licensure Examination.
However, Study Habits and Behavior has a
slight positive effect to the Civil
Engineering Licensure Examination.
CONCLUSION
 The general weighted average of the 2015
and 2016 graduates has a moderate
positive effect on passing the Civil
Engineering Licensure Examination. Also,
the general weighted average of the 2017
graduates has a high positive effect on
passing the Civil Engineering Licensure
Examination.
CONCLUSION
 In general, the general weighted average of the
graduates has a high positive effect on passing the
Civil Engineering Licensure Examination. Furthermore,
the general weighted average of the student is
directly proportional to the Civil Engineering
Licensure Examination ratings. This means that a
student who strives hard to gain a higher general
weighted average has a greater chance to pass the
Civil Engineering Licensure Examination than those
with lower general weighted average.
CONCLUSION
 The implementation of curriculum as
perceived by the graduates does not have an
effect to the passing rate of a Civil
Engineering student who graduated on
Palawan State University in Civil Engineering
Licensure Examination. In addition, the syllabi
of the instructors are satisfactorily complying
with the CHED Memorandum Order no.29
series of 2007.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To Civil Engineering Students
Students should focus to improve their academic
performance, students with low General Weighted
Average and failed subjects should strive harder.
Thus, increasing their chances of passing the
licensure examination because it was found out that
students with low General Weighted Average and
failed subjects are more likely to fail the licensure
examination.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To Graduates
The graduates must be familiar dealing with the
unexpected events and budgeting of time. The
success of examinee is related to the extent to which
his review schedule is organized. This requires hard
work and commitment. Positive attitude must be
adapted to accommodate a successful review.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To Civil Engineering Department
The PRC’s learning competencies in the licensure
examinations must be visible and clear in the course outline
of the faculty members in all subject areas because it has
been found out that the foundation of the examinees or the
quality of education that they receive in college is a major
determinant in the results of the Civil Engineering Licensure
Examination. The content of the syllabus must be in
accordance with the CHED Memorandum order no.29 series of
2007.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To the College of Engineering, Architecture
and Technology
The College of Engineering, Architecture and
Technology must conduct a similar study for the
other departments to investigate further the effects
of Student factor in other engineering programs. The
college should also study the effectiveness of
curriculum implementation in other engineering
departments.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To Palawan State University
There is a need for the university to consider
further study of the factors found to have influence
over the performance in the Civil Engineering
Licensure Examination in other programs that it
offers. This may help in the continuous review and
enrichment of the Bachelor of Science in Civil
Engineering and other programs’ curriculum to make
it responsive and relevant to the needs of the time.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To Future Researchers
The future researchers are encouraged to utilize web-
based/Google Forms survey approaches in research and the
likes. Web-based surveys ensure automatic data-gathering
and faster interpretation of results. Other factors not taken
in this study should also be studied for further investigation
and examination to explore their relationships with the
performance in the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination.
A follow-up investigation of the study is recommended with
the inclusion of other relevant variables for further analysis.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 To Future Researchers
The research study can be replicated to enhance the
survey questions, investigate other possible factors such as
social factor, environmental factor, spiritual factor, personal
factor, and health factor that could affect the passing rate in
the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination, and improve
the web-based survey instrument leading to a new wave of
progress and innovation. Conducting personal interviews is
also encouraged as it will increase the accuracy of the
results of the study.
