SYNOPSIS
AIM
• To provide a room to work, cook, relax and sleep; and
to provide space equivalent to a hotel room for shorter
or a longer period.
•To provide good accommodation at lower price.
•To provide accommodation for tourists and travellers.
•To provide availability of the facilities in the apartment
so that, you can cook whenever you wish, work
whenever you need to work, and there’s the added
space to entertain guests or hold business meetings all
within your own private space and at times that
suit. You can often find apartments with several
bathrooms and bedrooms which branch off from one
central living area, this can work well for families,
colleagues or groups travelling together.
•To provide your own kitchen is convenient, cost-
effective and also great if you have special dietary
requirements as you can self-cater. At the very least,
serviced apartments have communal laundries, but
most have their own washer and dryers giving you the
option of doing your own laundry. Convenient and cost-
saving!

INTRODUCTION:
•Five star hotels, the world over, are meeting-places for the rich and powerful-place which
reverberate with business and politics. The hotel industry has its roots in the past in almost over
country of the world.Hotel provides a service to the customer whose requirements are clean,
quiet and comfortable stays. The emphasis lies on good food and good services. Hotels range in
different sizes depending on the market requirement.The development in the hotel industry
leads to a major breakthrough in the tourism of the country. The beautiful and exotic locations
are new accessible for the entire tourists coming to the country. Restaurants and coffee shops
have always been the attraction of 5 star hotels. To cater the growing trend of pre-dinner drinks
and dances, bars and discotheques have also been incorporated into the fabric of five star

•To design a five star hotel with emphasis on contemporary styles and create spaces for people
of various categories (business, vacation and tourists) to spend more with pleasure and luxury
close to nature.
•To evolve and innovative space, comprehensively the functional and spatial research between

SCOPE
• Considering the vastness of the scope in design for five star hotels, the study of spacing,
function, proper circulation and spaces for services are given utmost importance.

LIMITATIONS
• The design is limitless in design depth, detailing work such as service detailing, building
construction detailing and interior design.

Marriott International was formed in 1993 when the Marriott
Corporation split into two companies, Marriott International and Host
Marriott Corporation. In 1995, Marriott was the first hotel company
worldwide to offer guests the option to book reservations online, via
the company's implementation of MARSHA (Marriott's Automatic
Reservation System for Hotel Accommodations)
In April 1995, Marriott International acquired a 49% interest in Ritz-
Carlton Hotel Company LLC. Marriott International believed that it

barely breaking even. The cost to Marriott was estimated to have been
about $200 million in cash and assumed debt. The next year, Marriott

The main aim which was kept in mind while designing the hotel is to make it an ecotel. Provision of the skylights
on the roofs provide a very good ventilation into the building which makes it reduce the useage of electricity.
The building is designed with 72 rooms facing the atrium. These rooms are not directly exposed tothe external
elements thus reducing the heat load.
Daylighting in the atrium has been achieved by skylight as an architectural element, detailed in amanner of doubly
layered domes to reduce heat load and noise levels yet admitting maximumnatural light in the atrium space.
The swimming pool is located on the rooftop with 4 feet of water depth, which acts as an insulatorfrom the heat.

The hotel's ceiling has a Skylight which permits sunlight to enter into the atrium of the hotel providing natural light and
reducing the amount of energy utilized for lighting the lobby and corridors.
The hotel uses energy efficient lighting such as CFL and LED. The signage of the hotel which was earlier neon is now
LED based saving tremendous amount of energy.
A Renewable source of energy - Solar energy is harnessed through Solar panels that are installed on the roof of the
hotel.
The Orchid proves its sincere commitment to the environment by using potted plants instead of
cut flowers and using paper that has at least 25% recycled content.
Guest Room amenities include herbal toiletries and stationery made from environmentally
friendly material.
Swimming pool water and Drinking Water is treated using Ozone instead of carcinogenic
Chlorine.

The Master Control Panel in the Guest rooms is incorporated with an Ecobutton, which when pressed increases the AC
temperature of the room by 2 degrees Celsius thus conserving energy.
