• Standard 3MHz re-farm cannot be extended for DBE (3-5MHz).

• Requires meticulous planning to support 5 MHz operations without degradation in 2G

Recap – Test-bed Results

o Magic Radio DBE functionality checked based on Load and Time triggers

o No Quality/Availibility Impact on 2G during spectrum re-configurations

o 15-20 seconds Outage on LTE cell during re-configurations

o During re-configurations, LTE PS traffic shifted to:

o Other LTE Cells – F1 -> F2 Handover
o UMTS Layer redirection
o 2G Layer redirection
o During re-configurations, GSM CS traffic shifted to:
o Other GSM TRXs (intra cell handover)
o Other GSM Cells (inter cell handover)
o Frequency buffer zone required to ensure frequency isolation

• Orange Color represents 3MHz LTE spectrum re-farmed using sandwich approach

• Blue Color represents Frequencies fixed for GSM use

• Green Color represents Frequencies dynamically shared between GSM and LTE
Spectral Readiness for DBE (2/2)
Step 1: Create separate groups for GSM frequencies [Static (3.8 Mhz) and Dynamic (2 Mhz)]

Attempt 1: Divide 5.8 MHz into static and dynamic groups; create separate hopping lists for Static and Dynamic TRXs

Observation: 100+ min MPD Degradation after segregation of hopping lists – due to manual planning

Attempt 2: MR based frequency retune of 29 Sites; including 4 Field Testing sites and 25 buffer sites

Observation: No degradation in quality KPIs observed

Step 2: Schedule-selection for extended LTE (5MHz) operation [switching off GSM operations on 2MHz Dynamic group]
Attempt 1: Emulate CSON actions by manually locking Dynamic TRXs in high traffic hours (Non-BH) [10:00 am to 04:00 pm]

Observation*: MPD decrease of up to 50 mins (~14% degradation) and slight increase in TCH blocking from 0% to 0.37%

Attempt 2: Emulate CSON actions by manually locking Dynamic TRXs in low traffic hours [11:00 pm to 10:00 am]

Observation: No noticeable degradation in GSM KPIs. Ready to test DBE functionality with time-based trigger

* MPD decrease due to increased frequency clashes at traffic loaded hours
