• POWER OUT FOR 5 MINUTE ON PLANET EARTH

The Alliance for the Planet, a group of

environmental associations on the Feb 1, 07
in the biggest mobilization of Citizens against
Global Warming, called for to create 5
minutes of electrical rest for the planet.
People in Eastern North America turn off
their lights & electrical appliances on
Feb 1, 07, between 1.55 pm & 2 pm,
[18.55 for London, & 19.55 for Paris & Italy,
10.55 am on North America]
This is not just for saving electricity but
getting the attention of media, politicians, &
ourselves.

• 5 minutes of electrical down time send a

message to all political leaders that GW is an
issue that needs to come first & foremost in
political debate. GW affects & involves us all
& provides an occasion to show how
important GW is to us.
What is Global Warming ?
• Global warming* is a gradual
increase in planet-wide
temperatures
• Earth has been hottest in at least
400 years, & possibly even the last
2,000 years.
• Studies indicate that average
global surface temperature has
increased by approx. 0.5-1.0°F
(0.3-0.6°C) over the last century.
• This warming is largely attributed
to the increase of greenhouse
gases# in the Earth's upper
atmosphere
– * hereinafter GW
– # hereinafter GHG
IPCC Report States ..
• GW is now “unequivocal” & that human activity
“very likely” has been the primary cause of rising
temperatures worldwide since 1950.
• It also says that GW is likely to continue for
centuries, & that it is already too late to stop some
of the serious consequences
it will bring—even if
mankind could somehow
hold the line on GHG
emissions worldwide
starting today.
Greenhouse Effect
Dark Earth absorbs sunlight.
Earth warms up & radiates
heat. Greenhouse gases in
the air intercept some
outgoing radiation & re-radiate
it back down.
This warms Earth more.
More GHGs = warmer still.

• Cyclic changes in solar output have warmed & cooled

earth modestly. By now, human GHG warm earth much
more than solar changes do. Light surfaces reflect
sunlight. Those surfaces don’t warm earth much.
GREEN HOUSE GASSES
GHG traps heat more effectively & occur
naturally in the environment & also result from
human activities.
These gasses are:
• Water vapor
• Carbon dioxide
• Methane
• Nitrous oxide
Water Vapor is most abundant GHG which reaches atmosphere
through evaporation from ocean, lakes & rivers.
CO2 is 2nd most abundant GHG that flows into atmosphere from
burning of fossil fuels, solid wastes, wood, vehicles exhaust, power
generation, & human respiration. It allows light to pass through but
traps heat. CO2 absorbs certain wavelengths of energy thereby allowing
radiation from the sun can enter atmosphere as light. Once this light
hits the ground, it turns into heat which radiates back into atmosphere
& out into space. CO2 traps some of the heat.
Nitrous Oxide is a powerful GHG released by burning fossil fuels & traps
300X more heat than CO2. Its concentration has increased by 17%
Methane is an effective insulator trapping over 20X more heat than
CO2. Since start of industrial revolution, its amount in atmosphere has
more than doubled. The digestive processes of cattle, sheep, deer,
venting of natural gas & waste decomposition in landfills are its major
sources.
CO2 Emissions to Atmosphere
In 1750, CO2 level was about 281 PPM. Today it is
368, up by 31%. If current predictions prove accurate,
by 2100 , CO2 will reach 970 PPM (300% prior to the
industrial revolution). CO2 persist for about 100
years, so even if we stopped emitting it right now we
would still feel the effects for decades.

Svante Arrhenius
estimated 100 years ago
that a doubling of CO2
would create a 4oC rise in
temperature.
IMPACT OF GLOBAL WARMING

In a recent study* losses estimates due to GW are:

1 - 2 % of GDP in 2050,
2 - 8 % of GDP by 2100, &
5 - 14 % of GDP by 2200.

CLIMATE
• As per scientist’s prediction the warmed world will be
more humid & hot which will result in more water
evaporation from earth.
• Humid weather will enhance rainfall but with change
pattern & high intensity.
• Storm will be more strong & frequent.
• Weather pattern are suspected to be less predictable
& more extreme.

AGRICULTURE
•Increase in temperature may cause a pole-ward shift of
agricultural zones & shift in growing seasons.

•Equatorial zones, where agriculture is generally unproductive

now, will deteriorate further.

•In many areas currently fertile, like parts of south America,

New Zealand, & Southern Africa, condition are predicted to
become more arid & crop yields to become more marginal.

• 80% of human food comes from grains.

• World production barely rose from 1992 to 2006 (mainly in 2004).
• Production/capita peaked in 1985, at 343 Kg. It has fallen to 305 Kg.
• Green Revolution is stagnating. Growing water scarcity is one factor.
• Insects, fungi & other pests are spreading northward.
• Pests consume 40% of crops & rising - 50% in many tropical areas.
• In the tropics, food production will fall due to eroding soils, problems in finding water
• to irrigate crops as glaciers & snow fade away, & water tables fall.
• Satellites show that, since 1994, hot, dry summers outweigh warm, wet springs.
• A world that was turning greener is now turning browner.
ANIMAL
• Animal & plant will find it difficult to escape from or adjust to effect of GW
because of less availability of space already occupied by human populace.

• Approximately 20-30% of plant & animal Species assessed so far are likely
to be at greater risk of extinction if increases in global average
temperature exceed 1.5 to 2.5 Celsius.

• Species around the world are reacting to climate change: Since 1950,
species has shifted to the north 4 miles per decade, shifted to higher
altitudes by 20 feet/decade, & Spring has advanced by 2.3 days per
decade. In America, butterflies have moved north. Costa Rican birds have
extended their range northward. Tropical fish have been seen for the first
time off the British Coast, & animals such as Winter Moth are finding their
food supply affected by earlier Springs.
HUMAN HEALTH
•As per IPCC more people will get sick or die from
heat stress due to warmer nights.

•Today 45% of world population is affected by

mosquito carrying parasites. The percentage may
increase to 60 if temperature rise rate remains same
till 2030. Other diseases e.g. dengue fever, yellow
fever & encephalitis will increase rapidly

•Allergies & respiratory disease grow as

warmer air grows as it will be more
charged with pollutant
Consequences of Climate Change
• It can lead to:
– Rise in sea levels due to melting of glaciers,
– Increased intensity of heat waves,
– Loss of biodiversity
– Changes in global pattern of rainfall, with many already dry areas
expected to become even drier.
– Effects on rainfall as well as on seasonal patterns, potentially affecting
livelihoods of large populations, & natural resources.
– Increased Flood risk due to more intense rainfall & sea-level rise.
– The frequency and/or severity of extreme weather events, including
hurricanes, floods, heat waves, & droughts, are expected to increase,
most seriously in Africa & Asia.
– There may exist "tipping points," which, if passed, would result in more
dramatic & irreversible climate effects like rapid glacial melting, reversal
of the Gulf Stream, & large-scale tundra thawing in Canada, China, &
Russia.
Macroeconomic Effects
• Estimates of possible economic costs varies from negligible - 10 % reduction
in world GDP for average GW of 6OC. Direct -ve impact on productivity from
long-term temperature change & more intense &/or extreme weather
events, particularly for agriculture, fisheries, & tourism.
• Costs from sea-level rise & increased severity of flooding.
• Increased risk of widespread migration & conflict, resulting from long-term
climate deterioration & greater damage from extreme weather events.
• Costs arising to mitigate carbon emissions, including higher energy prices &
increased investment, are becoming important in many countries.
• Balance of payments problems in some countries due to reduced exports of
goods & services or increased need for food & essential imports. Damage to
ports & roads may disrupt trade flows.
• Adverse "nonmarket" on human health & the quality of life.
• Positively, there is potential revenue to be gained from mitigation schemes—
depending on its implementation, some low-income regions may benefit
financially from trading of GHG emissions rights (Carbon Credits).
• Economic costs to vary across regions & is to be felt slowly, the steps to
mitigate/ adapt to GW can have sever economic & financial consequences.
EFFECT OF GLOBAL WARMING
IN
INDIA
30% DROP IN PER CAPITA WATER AVAILABILITY
BY 2030 FOR INDIANS AS GREAT DRYS BECOME FREQUENT
COASTAL CATASTROPHE: SEA WILL RISE 40 CM HIGHER
BY 2100 & 50 MILLION PEOPLE WOULD BE DISPLACED BY
FLOODING.
• Wheat production will fall by 17% in India if the temperature
rise by even half-a degree centigrade.
centigrade
•Himalayan glaciers may totally disappear causing catastrophic
disruption. This will first result in rivers being flooded & then
drying up. The Ganges delta would turn infertile.
• If current warming rate persist, glaciers on the Tibet plateau will
shrink rapidly from 5 lakh to 1 lakh sq km by 2030.
• Warmer ocean temperature would lead to bleaching & destroy
vast tracts of Indian coral reefs. Ocean acidification would lead to
shell dissolution, severely impacting marine life & fisheries.
25% AMOUNT OF FLORA & FAUNA IN INDIA
WOULD EXTINCT BY THE YEAR OF 2030.
Remedy
What can I do
as an individual?
Conserve
• Whenever you can, recycle paper, plastic, newspaper,
glass & aluminum cans.
• By recycling 50% of your household waste, you can
save 2,400 pounds of CO2 annually.
• Less driving means fewer emissions.
• Make sure your car is running efficiently
• Every gallon of petrol you save not

only helps your budget, it also

keeps 20 pounds of CO2 out of

the environment .
Save Electricity
• Setting your thermostat just 2 degrees lower could save
about 2,000 pounds of CO2 each year.
• CFL last 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs, use 2/3 less
energy & give off 70 % less heat.
• If every family in India replaces one regular light bulb with a
CFL, it would eliminate 900 billion pounds of GHG, the same
as taking 27.5 million cars off the road.
• Buy home appliances with star rating.
• Avoid products that come with excess packaging, that can't
be recycled. If household garbage is reduced by 10 %, you
can save 1,200 pounds of CO2 annually.
• Turn off lights, TV, Computer etc., when you leave
a room, & use only as much light as you need.
Plant a Tree
If you have the means to plant a tree, start digging..
They will fully counter the increases in CO2 caused
by automobile traffic, manufacturing & other human
activities.
A single tree will absorb approximately 1 ton of
CO2 during its lifetime.
Switch to Vegetarian Diet
• 1 pound of beef represents the loss of 35
pounds of topsoil.
• It takes 16 pounds of grain & soybeans to
produce 1 pound of feedlot beef.
• About 20 vegetarian can be fed on the land
that it takes to feed 1 meat eater.

Remedy
Homa Therapy
HOMA THERAPY - A REMEDY ?
• Agnihotra is a gift from ancient most Vedic sciences of bio-
energy, medicine, agriculture & climate engineering.
• Agnihotra is the basic healing fire of Homa Therapy.
• Agnihotra is the process of purification of atmosphere
through fire prepared in a copper pyramid tuned to
biorhythm of sunrise/sunset
• It is a method that can neutralize the effects of pollution on
living beings. The energy cycle on this planet come into
harmony.
• We are healing our world. Thousands on
all continents who practice Agnihotra have
remarked that simply by performing daily
Agnihotra at sunrise/sunset, felt as if a
protective film surrounds them.
"Ancient tradition of Vedic knowledge states that due to
Yajnya, APOORWA* is created. This means some special effect
comes about where the effect goes to the subatomic level."

That means the subtle structure of atoms changes & comes

back to as it was in nature.

Shri VASANT PARANJPEJI

* Apoorwa means that what was not there before.
HOMA THERAPY - Effect
• Agnihotra is ancient tradition of the Vedas. It effects by:
• The sun brings or takes the energy, which makes all conditions
conducive to an anti-pollutionary change. it calms the world. The
copper pyramid in which fire is lit, is the generator or turbine.
• Just at morning Agnihotra all the electricities, energies, ethers are
attracted to the pyramid in its shape. At sunset these energies are
thrust out in same shape.
• This flood of energies at sunrise creates strong purifying effects on
all levels wherever it touches the Earth.
• Agnihotra amplifies these purifying effects in the following way:
• This flood of subtle energies carries music with it. The morning
Agnihotra Mantra is the quintessential sound of that flood. If you
then prepare the fire in the prescribed copper pyramid, utter these
mantras & offer ghee mixed rice to the fire, then a channel is being
created through all the atmosphere & PRANA - life energy, is
purified.
HOMA – Effect contd…
• Tremendous amounts of energy are gathered around pyramid
at Agnihotra time. A magnetic type field is created which
neutralises negative energies & reinforces positive energies.
• Agnihotra smoke gathers particles of harmful radiation in
atmosphere & on a very subtle level neutralizes their
radioactive effect. Nothing is destroyed, merely changed.
• Agnihotra rhythms & mantras generate subtle energies which
are thrust into the atmosphere by fire. Also consider the quality
of materials burnt wherein lies full effect of this healing HOMA.
• Much healing energy emanates from the Agnihotra pyramid.
• An aura energy field is created around plants during Agnihotra.
Thus plants become stronger & disease resistant.
• When flame goes out energy is locked in ash which
is used for preparing various medicines.
HOMA - Effect on Agriculture
• Agnihotra fire gives nourishment to plants, human & animals.
• Plants get more nutrition from atmosphere. Homa purifies the
atmosphere from pollution & fills it up with nutrition.
• In different countries agricultural projects were carried out
using Homa. Following are some of results documented:
– Rejuvenation of soils even in difficult conditions like acid rain.
– Prevention, control & eradication of plagues & diseases in all crops.
– Positive reports are available for rice, corn, wheat, tomato, onion,
cabbages, cucumber, beans, soy, potato, banana, plantain, papaya,
cocoa, mango, coconut, orange, lemon, pineapple, avocado, peanuts,
walnuts, coffee, sesame, cotton etc & also on forest trees.
– Crops become superior in quantity, taste, texture, color & disease
resistance.
– Weed control
– Shelf life is improved.
– Homa is cheap & no agrochemicals are required.
HOMA - Effect on Animal
• Improves the health of cattle & no vaccinations
are required.
• Improves quality & quantity of milk.
• Beneficially affects earthworms & honeybees
& they produce more.
HOMA - Effect on Atmosphere
• Scientists of different countries have done research work on its
effects & the way it works. Following are some of the results:
• Agnihotra drastically reduces quantity of pathogenic bacteria in the air.
• It purify water both by Agnihotra &/or by adding its ash.
• Sprouts develop better. They grow faster & become stronger.
• After several experiments, one senior scientist from Eastern Europe made
the following remarked "The chemical reactions which take place when
Agnihotra fire, burns are less important. Important is the radiation. We
know the chemical aspects of fire. In the end we get H2O, CO2, & CO. Then
there is visible light & infrared. This is the classical view today about fire. If
you look into the more subtle structure of fire, you find that electrons jump
from one atom to another (like a flash of lightning) & this causes some
emissions on a very subtle level which hardly fits
into modern Quantum Theory."
HOMA - Effect on Atmosphere
• From book "Secrets of The Soil" by Peter Tompkin & Christopher Bird:
• Mr. Modric, an expert in electromagnetic fields, believed Agnihotra could
potentially affect the whole environment, countering the toxins of modern
technology developed over the last century by the industrial revolution &
that the process might have enormous implications for our very existence.
• He added that Agnihotra performed at various specifically spaced points on
earth, if done exactly at sunrise & sunset, could affect an energy associated
with the earth, one such as described by Steiner & Reich, the enhancement
of which would have a healing effect on the environment. He said, "We
believe we can establish the fact of an electromagnetic radiation during the
ceremony, but we are in an area of informational transfer through
intermolecular & inter-atomic processes mediated by ultraviolet photons.
It’s logical to conclude that some kind of energetic mechanism is being
activated which can be translated into physical meaning linked to concrete
information systems that are as yet unknown but connected to systems of
resonance".
Agnihotra Requirement
• COPPER PYRAMID of specific size. Copper is a
conductor for subtle energies.
• RICE: unbroken brown or low polished rice.
• PURE COW GHEE when used in Agnihotra fire, acts as
a carrier agent for subtle energies. Powerful energy is
locked up in this material.
• PANCAKE-LIKE PATTIES OF DRIED COW DUNG :
Agnihotra fire is to be prepared from this dried dung.
AGNIHOTRA PROCESS
• A few minutes before actual time of sunrise & sunset start to prepare the
Agnihotra fire as follows:
• Place a flat piece of dried cow dung coated with Ghee at the bottom of pyramid.
Arrange more pieces in such a manner as will allow air to pass. Apply a little
Ghee to a small piece of cow dung & light it. Insert this in the middle of the
pyramid. Soon all the dung will catch fire. You can use a hand fan to help the
flame. Do not blow through the mouth.
• At sunrise & sunset the fire should be ablaze in the pyramid.
• Take a few grains of Ghee coated rice in a dish or your left palm. Exactly at
sunrise utter the 1st Mantra & after the word SWAHA add a few grains of rice (as
little as you can hold in the pinch of your fingers will suffice) to the fire.
• Utter 2nd Mantra & after the word SWAHA add a few grains of rice to the fire.
• This completes morning Agnihotra.
• At sunset do the same by using evening Mantras. .
• If you miss the exact timing, you will not get the healing effect ( even in ash).
• After each Agnihotra try to sit as many time as you can or at least till fire
extinguishes itself. Agnihotra creates medicinal & healing atmosphere.
• Just before the next Agnihotra collect the ash & keep it in a glass or
earthen container. It can be used for plants or making folk medicines.
AGNIHOTRA Mantras
• When we do these Mantras, the sounds activate special vibrations that will create
certain atmosphere of effects. Then the desired results are realised. These
vibrations exist for everything, so anything can be activated, controlled or changed
by Mantras.
• When one with a pure mind speaks the Mantra into the Agnihotra pyramid at
Agnihotra time, the ash retains that energy & the healing properties of the ash
become more powerful.
