1- 00:10-Enters the exposition stage, as we are presented with the major characters.

We instantly have
an insight into what to expect. Harsh start as we see the lack of regard for authority with the trailer
beginning with an attack on a security guard. Surrounded with much mystery, hidden masked and in
costume the characters so we are unaware of relevance of characters and who they are. Enigma created
as we try to piece together how this leads to the further narrative. Underscore is soft but with hints of
conflict to link with narrative present. Established setting is constantly changing, however, from the first
established setting being of within a bank this creates mise en scene of this being a heavy feature of
the film and where majority of the narrative may be focused from.
2-00:18- there is a pause in the underscore as the narrative is created, audience become
aware of relevance of the masked villains and the female victim present. The underscore
fades while we enter the rising action. Learn of the conflict within the narrative and great
uncertainty of what is going to develop from this.
3-00:38- A complication within the narrative is presented to the audience. The protagonist meets
the villain, offered comfort from the villain we see a complication with how these two can be
likened to each other. Not a common convention in thriller films for the victim/villain to form a
bond. Underscore builds in tempo and pace as we pass through the complication verging ever
closer to the climax.
4-00:49- Presented with facts, we start to piece together the narrative far greater. We still have
much mystery surrounding other characters, aware of two. Are they the only significant ones?
Enigma is created upon this. Soft underscore, the fluctuation in soundtrack is constantly playing
with the audience’s emotions as we try to anticipate the climax. From not revealing the masked
characters, suggestive of themes heavily reliant on mystery, the unknown and hidden danger.
5-01:03- A further complication with the relevance of the prison to the villains
lifestyle, creates enigma with relevance of this to the choices this villain chose to
participate in and the lasting affect it had. Represents the harsh affects of where he
could end up, could end up locked up in the same prison of which contains his
father.
6-1:47- Highest moment of tension as we’ve been fluctuating between pace and tempo of
the underscore, at this point it is heightened as we hit the climax. We reach the highest
moment of suspense as the attacks from this vicious group are at its worst. Masked-Want
to stay unknown, vicious unknown attacks.
7-1:53- Reversal. The rise of the hero of the piece sees the reversal of his own, as his team turn
against him his downfall is set up for a dramatic conclusion. The audience become aware of the
pitfalls of such a choice, he’s become surrounded by a world he didn’t want.
8- 1:58- The ‘hero’ is forced to choose between the one he loves and his team and friends of
many years. The narrative takes a twist of it’s own, with the only way of him making it out is by
sticking with his team. Represents the harsh affects of living such a lifestyle can have on those
you love and want to be safe and well.
9-2:18- Falling action as we see the downfall of the groups luck, slowly as the plan starts to
fail. Underscore is still predominantly as its heightened stage within the piece the continuity of
shots is consistent with quick cuts between shots replacing the fades of which were present in
the rising action.
10-2:19- Split second shots, continuity between shots is at it’s fastest point as the downward
spiral of the hero is becoming far more evident as it comes to an conclusion. The hero is
punished significantly for the actions of what has occurred, also the same happens to his love
as we see the effects such a revelation has on her. Represents the typical thriller film as
everything starts to go well and in a split second it can spiral out of control. Typical code and
convention within thrillers.
11- We are left with great suspense as enigma is instantly created with what he means by see
you on the other side, has he got away with it? Has he died? Has he gone to prison? Audience
becomes sympathetic for the ‘hero’ as he battles his way away from this criminal lifestyle. Music
has faded and we are left with the moment of suspense as we try to puzzle together enigma and
suggest of what has happened to him. There is a gentle fade out, falling action has reached it’s
conclusion and the rest of the narrative is only achieved upon consumption of the film.
