shoes. The shoe market consists
of the total revenues generated

SATRA, Asia including India
Subcontinent is the largest market for
SHOES in terms of consumption.
China is the largest producer and
exporter of shoes and it is also the
biggest consumer of footwear by virtue
of the size of its population. Overall the
shoe production is highly concentrated in
Asian market and the consumption in the
US and European market.

INDIAN SCENERIO OF FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY

Footwear Industry is a significant chunk of the


ceather industry in India. India ranks second among
the footwear producing countries next to China. The
industry is labor intensive and is concentrated in the
small and cottage industry sectors.

The modern sector is largely confined to selected


centers like Chennai, Ambur, Ranipat, Agra, Kanpur
and Delhi with most of their production for export.

AGRA SHOE INDUSTRY

Agra is a leading center of the footwear industry,


with more than 400,000 thousand pairs of shoes being
produced everyday in both modern factories and
cottage enterprises.
The leather workers of Agra offer shoes, slippers,
sandals, purses, wallets, bags, belts, clothing,
beanbags and many more items made of leather in the
markets of Agra
Agra is an important center of the leather industry in
India. You can shop for leather items at affordable
prices and with a wide choice of designs and styles.

Above 1.5 cakhs pairs of shoes are manufactured in


Agra by the cottage, small scale and medium scale
footwear units. There about 60 organised footwear
units, 3000 tiny manufacturing units and about
30000 house holds artisans units. There are a large
number of ancillary industries, supporting footwear
industries in Agra. (About 20 small scale machinery
manufactures and 100 various kinds of footwear
component manufactures.) About 65% of total
domestic requirement of shoes in India is supplied
from Agra.
Total export turn over of Agra is about Rs. 450
crore.
