THE LEVEL OF BUY IN AND

• As a member of NCC I was able to
contribute actively on the submissions

of Gender issues to be included in the


national constitution.
• I have been the Chaiperson of the
finance committee of the council during
my tenure of office I was able to
influence decisions of gender budgeting.

enacted and this greatly
contributed in achieving the 30%
land ownership to women

• At the end of the 2009/2010 civic year,
I declined to take up the position of the
LEADERSHIP

council’s Legal & Establishment


Committee so the position could be
taken up by a female colleague called
Joyce Sakala. Interestingly, even the
committee vice chairperson of this
particular committee is also female.
