“The painting ‘Repose’ is a perfect example of the kind of technical aspects I like to try to
tackle in my paintings. Many times I am not as interested in the subject as much as I am
in creating some visual connection with the viewer that goes beyond subject matter. I am
not setting out to see how well I can ‘render’ the subject that I am seeing, but trying and
find ways through abstraction, color, and paint application to suggest things visually to
the viewer, instead of spelling everything out for them. I think this is what Quang Ho
likes to call a ‘visual Dialog’. Not being a smart as Quang- I haven’t yet thought of a term
M
for what I am trying to get across in a painting.” -KB

“I love this painting titled ‘Valencia’ simply because of the way it’s painted. I
had a wonderful model to work with and everything just seemed to come
together quickly. I love the ‘broken color’ of the brushstrokes and the chaotic
M
feeling they give in contrast to the serene pose offered by this beautiful model.”
