Trends in Indian Cement Production
Indian cement industry came of age after liberalization, after which its production
and
capacity increased manifold.

Growth can be seen from 91 plants and 43 mtpa of cement production in 1990 had
become 136
plants and 214 mtpa in April 2009.

Its capacity utilization has also increased during the same period from 78% to 91%

Remarkable capacity addition was due to producers expectations of growing market.
