• Reference Checks
– Reference checks is a formal process carried out
through a complete Reference Check form.
– The objective is to check the conduct, behavior,
past experiences, educational background degrees
etc as stated by the applicant.
– The head of HR department contacts the referees
to check the details provided on the form.

• Reference Checks Procedure
– Once the response is received, Panel scrutinizes
that responses and the reference check form and
compares that with the details.
– If there is any mismatch in the response, the
comments of the referee are unfavorable or if
statements are conflicting:
» The misrepresentation is discussed with the Head of HR
department.

• Background Checks:
– Objective of the background check is to collect
the criminal record, commercial record, security
clearance and financial record of the employee.
– Clariant contacts the government agencies who
perform this job on a nominal fee.
– Backgrounds checks are only used for higher
organizational posts.
