WOW GLOBAL CORPORATION

WOW Global provides solutions and services to healthcare payers and providers, which include hospitals, physicians groups, medical billing companies, clearinghouses and insurance companies.

MAIN OBJECTIVE - To develop a Web Based Day Care Centre Information Management System OBJECTIVES Finding the requirements through the process of requirement gathering from the prospective clients. Preparation of functional requirement document in different formats that can be conveyed to the technical team. Design the architecture for the day care module that can facilitate and automate workflow at any day care centre.

several departments or modalities like in a big hospital but the setup is smaller here in term

DAY CARE CENTRE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, Also called Clinical Information System (CIS) is a comprehensive, integrated information system designed to manage the administrative, financial and clinical aspects of a Day care.

REQUIREMENT GATHERING
Requirement gathering is usually the first part of any software product. It involves omeeting customers or prospective customers oanalyzing market requirements ofeatures that are in demand A comprehensive understanding of the customers needs & writing down the features of the proposed software are the keys to success in this phase. Methods of requirement gathering1.Shadowing 2.Interviewing 3.Focus group 4.Survey 5.User instruction 6.Prototyping

Documentation Of Functional Requirements And Designing The Architecture

Functional document using excel(which will decide the tabs to be used or the architecture of the information system software) A detailed functional document in word format mentioning the functional priority and technical complexity of a feature. Dash board (for conveying which features should be delivered or introduced during the phase 1,2 and so on depending upon the functional priority of the requirement for the client, this was generally for the architecture of the module) UML format or use cases (to convey the workflow and the endusers or actors of the information system).

Lot of paper based work Minimum integration of IT No inventory management No Record Maintenance system

Features a pharmacy module should have- Integration with the scheduler & patient registration system to automatically available patient details. - Physicians Details (who prescribed what to keep a record in case of quality management) - Drug information & medication Details(Brand/generic name, manufacturers name, Medicine code depending on the brand name or expiry date for tracking and FIFO(first In First out phenomena ) and Drug price - Prescription Details(Doctors name & prescribed items name and dosage) - Integrated with the EMR - Auditing feature - Order placer for drugs

CONCLUSION An essential part of a software development project as understanding what a project will deliver is critical to its success. Implementation of Day Care Management System is very important to facilitate paperless Day care operations which in turn will increase efficiency and quality of the clinical operations administered daily.

RECOMMENDATIONS Dont assume you know what the customer wants, ask.
Involve the user from the start Define and agree the scope of the project Ensure requirements are specific, realistic and measurable. Confirm your understanding of the requirements with the customer. Create a prototype if necessary to confirm or refine the customers requirements.

CASE STUDY OBJECTIVE

To study the awareness about health IT among the Hospital staff METHODOLOGY Sample size 30 Data collection by semi structured questionnaire Sample distributed like
Doctor 9 Nurses 9 Pharmacist 6 Technician 3 Administrator 2 Paramedical - 1

Internet Usage for various medical purposes

Work profile of medical staff Vs EMR usability confidence level

RECOMMENDATIONS
Proper and timely training sessions should be conducted for all the hospital

staff. The hospital staff should have discussions and seminars to aware them about the new advances in technology that can be introduced in hospitals to support their work Revised sessions of training should be conducted on a 6 month interval for the staff that if they are not comfortable in using any of the application because of earlier training or has missed any sessions or not confident can cover up and refresh his/her IT learning. The training modules should also be provided in the form of written manuals that helps in better understanding and retaining the knowledge for future reference

Methodology Descriptive case study work flow observation by mainly shadowing method

ADMISSION AND DISCHARGE PROCESSMainly corporate checkups so on call basis admission Discharge Summary has following details CR No., Name, Age , Sex, Date of check-up, Doctor In charge, Diagnosis, Treatment given, Advice at discharge and signature of the doctor

FINDINGSSufficient staff is not there. No proper patient record maintenance system No proper scheduling & appointment management system Longer Patient waiting Time No Inventory management

RECOMMENDATIONSPatient waiting time and Report Writing time should be decrease to increase patient satisfaction.
