Ground Truth (Field Validation)

Environmental Mapping: (a) Preparation of the map in laboratory using satellite images (b) Shore-perpendicular profiles (based on availability of roads/boats): (Upto 10m contour/10km landward and upto 12 nautical miles/10m water depth) (c) Division of project area into different zones (d) Verifying the positions of the coastline/coastal promontory using GPS (e) Verification on (i) Salt Marsh, (ii) Sabhka, (iii) Sand strand plain, (iv) Rocky shore and (v) Mangrove (f) Water quality investigations to determine the landward limit of coastal zone (g) Demarcation of tourism zone, industrial zone, natural resources conservation zone, Estuary zone, urban zone, No construction area (salt marsh/swamp/desert), Agricultural land, Land fills, (h) Identification of typical floral-faunal species, with the help of specialists either in-situ or ex-situ

Orthometric Height Calculation

y y

Orthometric height is calculated from Ellipsoidal and Geoidal height Ellipsoidal heights of 32 locations are collected from the files given by Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA) Geoidal Heights are calculated as follows :
(Fortran-command based) Available in :http://earth-info.nga.mil/GandG/wgs84/gravitymod/egm2008/egm08_wgs84.html

y y y

Software used : EGM2008 Harmonic Synthesis Program - Hsynth-WGS84.exe Requirements :

Input file containing Latitude and Longitudes in .txt format
(with one tab space)

Hsynth-WGS84.exe and Input text file must be stored inside the same folder Output file contains X,Y and Geoidal height , will be then stored to the same folder.
