It was in 1959 that the company started to import and sell wholesale pharmaceutical goods as Filipino entrepreneurs assumed the business. When prices for medicines and other pharmaceutical products soared in 1989, the company began marketing and selling generic medicines to public hospitals, making it possible for Filipinos who are less privileged to have access to quality yet cheap pharmaceutical products.

Heeding the call for cheaper medicine, the company stepped up its distribution by opening its retail arm in 2001. In 2007,THE GENERICS PHARMACYtapped Franchising Corp., the world leader in franchising, to engineer its franchise development and growth.

The generics Pharmacy is owned by one of the Ten Outstanding Entrepreneurs in the Philippines which is Mr. Benjamin Liuson. Liuson established the Generics Pharmacy in order to provide quality and affordable medicines to consumers and livelihood to enterprising Filipinos through franchising.
