INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Prepared by: DIFA SEQUEIRA (9364) JAYESH GHARAT (9220)

Introduction
Infrastructure management (IM) is the management of essential operation components, such as processes, equipment, data, human resources, and external contacts, for overall effectiveness. Infrastructure management is sometimes divided into categories of system management, network management, and storage management.

Generic Characteristics
Space Utilization Equipment Management Medical Equipment Management HVAC Management Power & Lighting Management Network Management Maintenance Management Key management

Space Utilization
Provides analytical tools to determine space requirements and measure the viability of existing or proposed alternatives. It the effective use of existing space, such as classrooms, laboratories, or offices. It is important that the display, services, storage and customer movement are integrated in the best possible form.

Equipment Management
Maintaining a high level of performance. Lengthening instrument life . Reducing interruption of services due to breakdowns and failures . Performance of equipment inventory. Equipment tagging, tracking and maintenance. Application of the identification number to equipments.

Medical Equipment Management

It includes the business processes used in interaction and oversight of the medical equipment involved in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. The related policies and procedures govern activities from the selection and acquisition through to the incoming inspection, acceptance, maintenance, and eventual retirement and disposal of medical equipment.

HVAC Management
HVAC controls the climate in commercial buildings and other facilities. HVAC management involves the regulation of heating systems, radiators, chimneys, ventilators, air conditioners, humidifiers etc. The two core components of HVAC management is the regulation of temperature and humidity. Proper HVAC management regulates the flow of the air and regulates microbiological elements that could effect people's health.

Maintenance Management
To manage and control plant and equipment maintenance in modern manufacturing and service industries. Schedule planned preventive maintenance routines. Assist in maintenance project management. Control maintenance inventory (store's management, requisition and purchasing

Key management
Access is authorized to particular person To maintain the security level. To avoid the accident. Confidentiality privacy of information Authentication restriction of access Integrity protection from tampering Non-repudiation proof of receipt

Benefits
Improves productivity and availability of business processes, and people. Increases productivity by automating manual processes and by preventing problems before they occur. Reduces complexity. Quickly determines the root cause of problems. Reduces costs by right sizing and right timing your infrastructure resource deployments. Collects data more accurately and efficiently. Aligns business.

Infrastructure management tools fall into six general categories:

Real-time monitoring Asset management Identity and Access management CFD modeling Connectivity management Maintenance management

Real Time Monitoring

With real-time monitoring, you can determine what is happening on your system in response to performance issues or problem reports. Real time monitoring data includes statistics that represent the current activity on the system that can help determine usage patterns and resource allocation and identify problem areas.

Asset management
The management of physical assets (their selection, maintenance, inspection and renewal), which plays a key role in determining the operational performance and profitability of industries that operate assets as part of their core business. Asset Management is the art and science of making the right decisions and optimizing these processes.

What does asset management do?

Any business involved in manufacturing, distribution, physical sales or even office or call centre work will have physical and non-physical assets. The process of selecting the right equipment for a particular job, keeping it in working order for as long as possible and replacing it in a well- organized way, producing as little disruption as possible, is a key task for management. Asset management helps with this task by maintaining a record of all the assets you want to monitor. It can hold details of their service schedules, maintenance records, depreciated value and schedule for replacement.

Identity and access management

Identity management (or ID management, or simply IDM) is a broad administrative area that deals with identifying individuals in a system and controlling access to the resources in that system by placing restrictions on the established identities of the individuals.

CFD modeling system

(Computational fluid dynamics)

CFD modeling can help compare various cooling approaches, provide a view an airflow model of the computer room, and anticipate potential hot spots based on mathematical modeling. Solutions for engineers investigating the dynamic behavior of liquids and gases in a wide range of industrial applications and physical processes.

Connectivity management
With connectivity management tools can track/trace the connectivity path from beginning to end. This is a valuable source of information for helping to resolve issues that may actually be caused upstream from the device or to prevent issues from occurring downstream from the device.

Maintenance management
Tracking maintenance of critical data center equipment has been largely neglected in the data center arena. There are a number of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) solutions. IT provides the ability to schedule and track preventive maintenance on infrastructure, create work orders, and keep track of assets and spare parts required for maintenance. IT also provides a number of reports to track costs and system downtime due to maintenance activities.
