What is Mutual Fund


Mutual fund is a common pool of money invested in a portfolio of securities towards a stated objective. According to the mutual fund invested your money indirectly to share market. The money thus collected is invested by the fund manager in different types of securities depending upon the objective of the scheme.

Mutual fund in India


The mutual fund industry in India started in 1963 with the formation of Unit Trust of India, at the initiative of the Government of India and Reserve Bank. The new entries of mutual fund companies in India were SBI Mutual Fund, Can bank Mutual Fund, Punjab National Bank Mutual Fund, Indian Bank Mutual Fund, Bank of India Mutual Fund.

History of SBI Mutual Fund


SBI Mutual Fund, India's largest bank sponsored mutual fund, is a joint venture between the State Bank of India and Societe General Asset Management. SBI Mutual fund started In the 1987 Mr. Deepak Chatterjee is MD of SBIMF. Today the fund house manages over Rs 28500 crores of assets and has a diverse profile of investors actively parking their investments across 36 active schemes. SBI Mutual is the first bank-sponsored fund to launch an offshore fund - Resurgent India Opportunities Fund.

There The Global market is fast growing in investment business In Indian scenario the investments are spread over Bank Deposits, Savings Certificate, Post Office, Equity Markets and the latest Mutual Fund. Since Mutual Funds are subject to market risk the investor take help of advisory services for financial planning which helps the investor to take calculated risk
