    Air powered cars use compressed air to run their engines instead of gasoline. The air is compressed to over 4,000 psi and stored in carbon fiber tanks. When the air enters the engine chamber it expands and pushes the pistons, powering the car. Air cars can travel over 100 miles on a single fill up of compressed air and release almost no carbon dioxide or other emissions. While they are similar in price to gas-powered cars, air cars provide environmental advantages by not burning fossil fuels or releasing pollutants that contribute to global warming and acid rain. However, their downside is that the air must still be compressed using electricity which often comes from burning fossil fuels.
