We pray for the coming of the Kingdom as Jesus taught us

Prepared by: Richard G. Pazcoguin UST Institute of Religion

GOD IS ABBA, FATHER God, through Jesus Christ, has entered into a very personal and intimate relationship with humanity, enabling us to call him Father. WE ARE ALL CHILDREN- The kingdom of heaven belongs to the child-like: humble, simple, transparent, totally dependent on God. GODS LOVE IS UNIVERSAL God is Our Father, the common Father of the entire human race. Every other person is a brother or sister in Christ.

I AM WHO AM The Name of God was the representation of who He is. To respect the Holy Name is to respect its bearer. THE GREAT UNSPEAKABLE The Hebrews gave utmost reverence to the name of God, that pronouncing the Holy Name aloud was deemed as sacrilegious. A TRADITION KEPT Jesus wanted his disciples to continue on giving supreme reverence to Gods Holy Name. ONLY GOD CAN SAVE We hallow the name of God because He alone can save us.

This petition is the heart of the Lords Prayer. What this petition means is spelled out by the succeeding petitions. When we pray YOUR KINGDOM COME, we pray for a world where: Gods will is obeyed There is enough for everyone There is fullness of relationship Evil is rendered powerless

KAGUSTUHAN NG DIYOS!- We sometimes tend to justify the evil things around us as Gods will, not realizing that many of the evils in society are caused by our wrong choices. NOT BAHALA NA To pray Your will be done does not mean we will be passive and just let God do everything. Jesus is in fact teaching us that it is up to us whether or not and to what extent we will allow God to do his work in our lives. JESUS PRAYER This is the same prayer that Jesus prayed in Gethsemane. We pray NOT TO IMPOSE on God our will. Rather, we pray so that OUR WILL WOULD BE IN COMMUNION WITH HIS WILL.

THE GREAT PROVIDER God is the source of all goodness. His bounty is greater than all human needs. GIVE US Since God is our common Father, we pray not merely for ourselves, but also for our brothers and sisters that they may also have their daily bread. THIS DAY- Jesus calls our attention to the present moment the past cannot be changed, the future is yet to come, but there are enough blessings this day to thank God for. OUR DAILY BREAD We pray for the things we need to sustain life, and for the graces that make life worth living.

MERCIFUL FATHER The Fathers mercy is greater than all the sins of humanity. DEBT AND TRESSPASSES Our sins refer to both what we owe God (a shortcoming) and the wrong we have done. FORGIVE TO BE FORGIVEN No one can really experience divine forgiveness unless one learns to forgive others. It is in the very act of forgiving others that we come to understand and accept the forgiveness of God.

INEVITABLE HARDSHIPS We experience evil either because of our wrong use of Gods gifts, or because we become victims of the wrong choices of others, or because of things in nature that are beyond our control. While not willed by God for us, these evils, in many ways, test our faith in God. GOD WILL RESCUE US Jesus, through this prayer, is teaching us that hard tests will surely come our way, but we can always ask God for the strength and courage to endure them when they come.

AMA NAMIN, SUMASALANGIT KA. SAMBAHIN ANG NGALAN MO. MAPASA-AMIN ANG KAHARIAN MO. SUNDIN ANG LOOB MO DITO SA LUPA PARA NANG SA LANGIT. BIGYAN MO KAMI NGAYON NG AMING KAKANIN SA ARAW-ARAW AT PATAWARIN MO KAMI SA AMING MGA SALA PARA NANG PAGPAPATAWAD NAMIN SA MGA NAGKAKASALA SA AMIN AT HUWAG MO KAMING IPAHINTULOT SA TUKSO AT IADYA MO KAMI SA LAHAT NG MASAMA. SAPAGKAT SAYO NAGMUMULA ANG KAHARIAN, AT KAPANGYARIHAN AT ANG KALUWALHATIAN MAGPASAWALANG-HANGGAN.
