CREATION - Since it is life that can alone beget life, there must have been always existing the LIVING BREATH OF GOD. The BREATH OF GOD was the origin of the being and life of every creature. THE PROMISE The scattered children of Abraham will be gatheredonce again by the Holy Spirit. THEOPHANIES (manifestations of God) To the Patriarchs, the cloud of the Holy Spirit revealed God and concealed Him in its shadow. THE KINGDOM It is the Spirit of the Lord that anointed the ruler of Israel. THE PROPHETS The prophets were the mouthpiece of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit, in hidden and mysterious ways, prepared the world for the coming of the Messiah, though the different events in the history of Israel. It is the Spirit of the Lord who will anoint the Messiah so that through Gods chosen one, the Good News may be proclaimed.

The Spirit-filled ambassador of God will be instumental in renwing the hearts of men by engraving a new law in them.

From the beginning to the end of time, whenever God sends his Son, he always send his Spirit; their mission is conjoined and inseparable. Ccc 743

The mysterious conception of Jesus in the womb of the Blessed Mother was by the power of the Holy Spirit. During his baptism, the Spirit descended from heaven, thus revealing that Jesus indeed is Gods Christ. The words and deeds of Jesus during his public ministry was a manifestion of the outpour of the Spirit of the Lord

Before his passion, Christ promised the coming of the Holy Spirit who will help his disciples to testtify to the truth which he proclaimed.

By his death and resurrection, Jesus is constituted in glory as Lord and Christ. From his fullness, he poured out the Holy Spirit on the apostles and the Church. CCC 745

As promised by Christ, the Holy Spirit descended on his Apostles after his ascension into heaven. This time, the Holy Spirits descent is permanent, unlike in the Old Testament when the Spirits presence was come-and-go. Thus this coming of the Spirit, which never ceases, ushers the world into the last days. The Holy Spirit builds, animates, and sanctifies Christs mystical body, the Church. As the Spirit descended on the Apostles, they went out from hiding and began to undertake the evangelizing mission Christ left them with so was the Church birthed on Pentecost Sunday.
