Operating system is the most significant software for a computer. Operating system is a kind of software controlling implementation of computer programs, namely by arranging processing time, checking for error, controlling input and output, calculating, compiling, storing, data processing and various related services. Therefore, main function of operating system are as follow : Connector between hardware layer and software layer. Ensuring different application can run together smoothly. Ensuring other application software can use memory, performing input and output to other device and having access to file system. In case several applications run together, operating system will manage to schedule properly that it all running processes will get sufficient time to use processor ( CPU ) and will not disturb each other.

Utility programs is program that have function to support operating system, to fill the lack and weakness of operating system. Utility program divided into 2, there are : 1. Internal utility 2. External utility

Internal Utility is utility program that have been exist on our windows, that installed when we finish to install windows. Example : 1. Compressor 2. BackUp 3. System Restore 4. Disk Clean UP 5. Disk Defragmenter

External Utility is utility program that must be installed to exist on our computer. Example : Antivirus Antivirus is program to scan, remove and keep computer from virus attack. AVG KASPERSKY

Word processor application software Function: process data on the form of text. Example : Microsoft word, Microsoft Work, KWord, AbiWord, etc.

2. Number processor application software Function: process data on the form of number. Example : Microsoft excel, Quatro Pro.

3. Presentation application software Function: making presentation format on the form of slide Example : Microsoft PowerPoint

4. Database application software Function: making database Example : Microsoft Access

5. Graphic processor application software Function: processing graphic and picture Example : CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, etc

6. Multimedia application software Function: processing multimedia data

7. Internet application software Function: for browsing internet

8. Animation creating application software Function: making animation Example : Macromedia Flash

Programming Language is a special software used to make application program, for example, for operating system and package program. Programming Language divided into three levels as follow : 1. Low Level Language 2. Middle Level Language 3. High Level Language

Low Level Language Its difficulty to understand by common people since its instruction uses machine language. Usually, people who understand is only the creator. Middle Level Language The instruction uses have come close to daily language. However, its still difficult to understand due to the uses of some abbreviation. High Level Language Having character of easy to understand since its uses daily language.
