Standard English
Standard English is what is widely accepted to be the correct way to use English. It refers to widely used spelling, vocabulary and grammar. It is used in essays, newspapers, university lectures, job interviews etc.

Non-Standard English
Non-Standard English is any spelling, vocabulary and grammar that is outside the standard. Slang is often non-standard. People often call non-standard English wrong but as linguists we must be careful to use the right terminology.
e.g. I aint done my homework. I is tired.
