QUESTIONNAIRE
DEFINATION
Questionnaire was invented by Sir Francis
Galton.
A questionnaire is a research instrument
consisting of a series of questions and other prompts for the purpose of gathering information from respondents. Questionnaire is a form containing a set of questions; submitted to people to gain statistical information.
TYPES OF QUESTIONAIRE
1. EXPLORATORY QUESTIONAIRE :-
In case if the researcher seeks for qualitative information for better understanding or the generation of hypothesis on a subject. For example - interview questions. But in this case the questions are open ended . Here prompts are not provided.
In the case when the researcher is looking for test and quantify the hypothesis and the data is to be analyzed statistically. These can be further subdivided in following :1. Structured & disguised 2. Unstructured & disguised 3. Structured & Non disguised 4. Unstructured & Non disguised
must be correct. Answers must be directly related to the respondent. Avoid jargons and abbreviations

the research objectives. 2. It should ensure that respondent fully understand the questions. 3. It should be brief & to the point and be so arranged that the respondent remain interested throughout the interview. 4. It should be easy for the respondent to provide the correct information that could be recorded easily.
DISADVANTAGES :1. Inappropriate for illiterate respondents. 2. Doesnt ensures the response from the respondents. 3. Any doubt or confusion to the respondent can not be rectified at moment in questionnaire method. 4. The respondent is not identified. 5. It may be time consuming. 6. The gap between the understandings of researcher and respondent is more as compared to schedule.
