GLOBAL WARMING

P.NANDHINI ECE - B

What is global warming?

Global Warming is the increase of average temperature of the Earth's surface.

It happens when greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane) trap heat and light from the sun in the earth's atmosphere, which increases the temperature.

What is not global warming?

It is not caused by a hole in the ozone layer.
It is not caused by poisonous gases.

It does not mean that we are running out of oxygen. It is not too late to do something about it.

Causes of Global Warming

Causes

Natural Causes

Green house effect

Man-made Causes

Natural Causes
Changes in solar energy output Since the sun is the only source of energy for the functioning of the Earths climate system, any changes in solar output may lead to climate change and, specifically global warming. Changes in the Earths orbital characteristics Changes in the shape of the Earths orbit around the sun as well as the tilt of the Earths axis alter the total amount of solar energy received by the planet. This would also affect the planets temperature.

Facts about global warming !

It's more than 90% sure humans cause global warming.

Eleven of last 12 years were the hottest ever recorded.

We are dumping about 1000 tons of CO2 per second into the atmosphere

Current greenhouse gas levels are far higher than the previous years

Global warming causes severe weather and sea level rises.

Global warming effects are predicted to get much worse.

Global warming will affect millions of people by 2100.

It's too late to stop Global Warming but we can Limit.

Steps to combat Global warming

Replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb. Clean or replace filters on your furnace and air conditioner. Choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases . Do not leave appliances on standby .
Cover your pots while cooking

Take a shower instead of a bath.

Use less hot water .

Recycle your organic waste . Reuse your shopping bag Reduce waste.

Plant a tree.
Eat less meat. Drive carefully and do not waste fuel .
