Exterior Modification | Site

A. Courtyard - Approximate Area: 3,500 SF. The existing courtyard will be re-configured to allow for the new student center entrance. Some re-grading will need to occur, but access to basement stairs and to the residence hall lobby will remain as-is. The existing curb at Library Walk and sidewalk will remain. The new courtyard configuration will include steps and an accessible ramp, planted areas, convenience exterior power receptacles, bike racks and exterior pole lights. Materials may be primarily cast-inplace concrete with concrete pavers at the exterior dining area. A1. Approximate Location of new grease interceptor servicing kitchen. A2. New building entry at courtyard requires bridge over areaway. B. Main Entry Area - New entrance at the intersection of Library Walk & Tondorf will require a ramp and entry steps to navigate the approximate five to six foot grade difference. Materials may be primarily cast-in-place concrete steps and pavement, as well as some low stone or precast concrete site walls. An existing fire hydrant and light pole may need to be relocated. C. Loading Dock - Approximate Area: 600 SF Repairs and grading only as necessary to accommodate the new loading dock function. D. Exterior Modification | Building

Exterior building modifications will be limited, consisting primarily of work at the two new entrances (northwest & courtyard), minor repairs to existing brick where required, and may be generally described as follows: 1. New/modified wall at student center entrance area in courtyard, introducing doors, windows and potentially new cladding at ground level. 1a. Bridge in foreground providing access to doors across existing areaway. 2. New/modified wall at new entrance area. 3. Existing south-facing windows may receive solar screening device. 4. Remove existing windows and portion of brick wall between. Replace with insulated overhead rolling door with 2 coat fluoropolymer finish. 5. The Ground Level roofing was replaced in 1993; however, a preliminary review of existing conditions suggests the roof is in poor condition and in need of replacement again. A probable cost of this replacement has been incorporated into the conceptual cost analysis.

Both spaces shall have audio/visual equipment and individual control of lighting. The operable partition(s) shall have the greatest acoustic separation achievable, so that functions on both sides may occur simultaneously. The space is intended to be flexible, accommodating several different types of events and furniture configurations. To the left are four possible scenarios.
