What orientalism is
the study of the Orient (Asia) by western scholars, and their evaluation of its social and moral values, and its future prospects.
NWE states the term orientalism derives from the Latin term oriens meaning east (literally rising sun)
In the Old World terms, Europe is the West or Occident, and its furthest extremity is the East or the Orient
Furthermore, the English word "Oriental" is usually a synonym for the peoples, cultures, and goods from the parts of East Asia traditionally occupied by East Asians and Southeast Asians
