In the best editorials: A judgment based on special knowledge and given by an expert. In general: A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof. The prevailing view, as in the phrase public opinion.

Writing an Editorial:
1. In the introduction, state the subject and your position on the subject. 2. Discuss the opposing points of view. 3. Prove your position with supporting details. 4. Draw a conclusion.

1.PERSUADE
Encourage your readers to act or to seek a solution. Provide convincing arguments and solutions. *Select the 3 strongest arguments for your position.

Help readers to understand a complex, controversial or sensitive situation or action. Ex. The RH bill. House Bill No. 4244 or An Act Providing for
a Comprehensive Policy on Responsible Parenthood, Reproductive Health, and Population and Development, and For Other Purposes

Begin with a general statement. *Use the 5 W and 1 H. Followed by the main idea, central idea or the position. *You can use quotations, sayings, facts, statistics, a question or a very powerful statement to open the
paragraph.

Make a stand. *You may begin with phrases such a Yet it would be,

Counter a stand. *Begin to show why you cant agree with this stand.
May begin with words such as In spite of, However, But. *Make a valid point that will make you appear as someone who has considered all the options.
