included 35 athletes
20 coaches + physiotherapists
16 managers

Distribution athletes:

• 23 track & field • 2 handball


• 3 taekwando • 1 gymnastics
• 2 swimmers • 1 wrestler
• 2 weight lifter • 1 volleyball
Facts Shock Wave Therapy III

Location:

• 24 trigger points
• 12 Achilles tendinopathy
• 9 Plantar fasciitis
• 5 Tendinitis of shoulder
• 4 jumper‘s knee
Results
• VAS and Roles- & Maudsley-Score
• too short follow up
• too much variability at too little account of
treatments

But:
• good response of athletes
• no decrease
• no side effects
Problems
• rESWT was mostly unknown
• no previous information for national teams
• no referring doctors in polyclinic
Advantages
• Availability of rESWT in Olympic Village
• A lot of interest by athletes and coaches
• Official presentation of rESWT at IOC
• Explanation to doctors and physiotherapists
• Learning curve for future time
