Autumn 2 Developing Productions

To

research exemplar portfolio and plan activities to fulfil course brief To demonstrate planning of productions to date and review Preliminary Exercise To plan schedule for development and preproduction tasks To book individual tutorial to review progress and set targets

THIS IS A TEST You must watch the opening sequence 3 times and during the viewing make notes on all the visual codes. On this occasion we are particularly interested in:
Narrative, Genre, Representation Media languages

Each viewing will last two minutes and you will have two minutes between clips for annotation.

You MUST work under EXAM CONDITIONS


At the end of the viewing you will have 15 minutes to write up your notes into a short essay

Complete the work review sheet. If there are reasons for missing work I need to know them and you will need to provide evidence. Completing work set is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY If you need specific help then you MUST ask.

This review sheet is an important part of our on-going assessment and gives me a clearer picture of what you have done so far and your attitude to the course. It goes without saying that if your are not up to date with work you are risking your place on the course.

To demonstrate planning of productions to date and review Preliminary Exercise

In groups review your Preliminary Exercises and ensure that they are uploaded to youtube and embedded into your Foundation Portfolio blog.

Once this is done you each have 15 minutes to:


Tip: Make your reflections brief and succinct and use media language appropriate to the task.

Explain what you did on the production Identify three specific things which you learned through filming and editing Evaluate the success of the finished product

Research In the VITAL LINKS list on the course blog you will find good exemplar of foundation portfolio with some excellent creative practice Identify what the task was, what they did, why they did it and what Media concepts were being applied/practiced through the task Spend 10 minutes viewing and making brief notes on paper

Setting your own agenda Create a list of tasks which you will aim to complete in the next four weeks and who in your group will complete them. Break these down into:

30minutes TO COMPLETE

To plan schedule for development and preproduction tasks If the things identified in TASK 2 require detailed planning, equipment, testing etc. then this must be factored in ESPECIALLY THE TIME IT TAKES.

Examples:

location finding (photography camera, permissions, contracts) test shoot (video camera make-up test (make-up, actors/models, lights and video camera) casting (advertising of production, room for casting, video camera) Props and costumes

SANCTIONS

Evidence of individual work Each member of each group must complete one task from the list and present this in the form of a slide show (powerpoint, keynote, prezi etc.) which MUST be available to view on FRIDAY.

Failure to complete task or show evidence will mean an instant DETENTION on Friday till 3.50pm It will also mean a letter home and the potential lose of marks.
