 Once upon a time this

corner of our planet in
which we live – our
EUROPE – was like
the paradise. It was
covered by thick
forests and many
kinds of animals were
living in them.

The human being was

the minority in the
middle of this world
and he was afraid of
nature though he was
enjoying:
 The colours of the
thousands of trees, of
plants, of flowers…

Man had the unique advantage of thinking among all

the live creatures and he organised his life better
day by day. He made laboratories or big factories
destroying many km² of forests…

He has made theatres, he has built… and built …

and built huge buildings cutting and burning
forests, turning rivers out of their course…

The worse is that man is responsible for:

1. The fires, 2. The soil erosion, 3. The illegal
woodcutting…

Though overgrazing is a catastrophe for the

forests it is better than a dead nature after a
fire!

“I would like to forget my fellows’ faces as we saw

the flames of 50 m. height surrounding us… I would
like to forget the cries for help of house owners around
us as the flames were licking their houses…”
“The birds did not have the time to fly away from
the branches of pine-trees and as their feathers were
getting burnt I have seen them to flutter for a while and
then to fall down like the dead autumn leaves…”
“I will not forget that I am still called “human
being” and I owe to nature a great forgiveness for all
kinds of disasters that the mankind has caused”

Man became the majority

in our planet
decreasing the area of
the forests, the number
of animals, polluting
the air, the ground, the
water, destroying
nature…
But nature still resists
showing its beauties
and reminding that
man must change his
behavior before it will
be too late!

 We studied the whole material which the three schools

have exchanged in their twinspace
 We understood how useful the forests were, they are and
they will be for the sustainable development
 We have enjoyed our excursions in several forests of the
northern Greece
 We have been closer to nature watching its beauty,
hearing its various sounds and smelling its fresh odors
 We have been the “young defenders” of the forests of
our region, our country, our Europe, our planet!
