Recap
In the last class we have discussed about the

frequency response of TC amplifier.

• The frequency response is poor i.e.. gain is constant

only over a small range of frequency.

• The output voltage is equal to the collector current

multiplied by reactance of primary.

• At high frequencies the reactance of primary is high,

resulting in reduced gain.

• At low frequencies the reactance of primary is low,

resulting in reduced gain.

• Flat response region of the curve is small compared to R-C

coupling.

THE APPLICATIONS OF VARIOUS AMPLIFIERS.

(1).RC coupled amplifier.

•. In this scheme a resistor is used as the collector load of

an amplifier stage.

• The output signal from this stage is given to the input of

the next stage, through the coupling capacitor.

• This is the most popular type of coupling because it is cheap

and provides excellent audio fidelity over a wide range of
frequency.

• RC coupled amplifier is used in wide verity of
applications. Some of the applications are given
below

1) It is used in record players.

2) It is used in tape recorders.

3) It is used in public address systems.

4) It is used in radio receivers and television receivers .

5) It is used in wide band amplifiers etc…..

2) TRANSFORMER COUPLING

• In this scheme transformer is used as the coupling device

between two amplifiers stages.

• The primary of the transformer replaced the collector

load of the 1st amplifier stage while the secondary
provides the a.c component of the signal directly to the
base of the 2nd stage.

• Due to the higher gain compared to other amplifiers the

transformer coupled amplifier is employed in wide
applications. They are

The TC amplifier applications are

1) It is mostly employed for impedance matching.

2) Transformer coupled amplifiers are used in radio and

T.V receivers for amplifying radio frequency signal

3) It is often used in the stage of the multistage

amplifiers for maximum power transfer.

3) Direct Coupling
• In this type of coupling scheme the output of one stage of the
amplifier is connected to the input of the next stage by means
of a simple connecting wire.
