Helps in Co-ordination
In

organizations, there exist a lot of differences, which are many a times formally created by an organization through departments, divisions, delegation, decentralization, authority and power. Through various effective communication mechanisms these differences are minimized and activities are properly co-coordinated to achieve organizational goals.

Assists in Decision Making

The most important function of a manager is decision making. In order to make an accurate and appropriate decision a manager needs to obtain information available in various channels of communication. The way decision is communicated will have an impact upon the outcomes of the organization in terms of cooperation and support of the people to achieve organizational goals.

Motivates People
Communication

with employees from time to time by the organization will keep the motivation and the commitment level of employees high for enhanced performance. Through various communication devices, managers declare rewards incentives to motivate employees.

Performance Feedback
People

working in an organization need to know how well they are performing and what needs to be done to achieve and exceed the standards set by the management ? Through letter of appreciation or suggestion, the subordinates are given a feedback about the performance status.

Job Instructions
Managers

need to communicate their subordinates the job instructions in terms of the job requirements time to time. Otherwise it may lead to confusion, wastage and inefficiency in an organization.

Controlling People
Every

organization has its own rules, regulations and procedures framed by the management in order to perform various activities to regulate the behaviour of people. An organization issues notices, circulars, letters etc., to communicate the existing or changed rules, regulations and proceedurs.

Spreading Rumour
It

is also called informal communication or grapevine network of who talks to whom in organizations. Usually, this is often considered as the work of employees to create misunderstanding. Sometimes management also takes the help of this route before implementing new policies.

Emotive Function

Communication facilitates the expression of feelings and satisfaction. It also enables the people to express their dissatisfaction and unhappiness through words or in writing to release their tension and frustration. That is why in organizations, there exist grievance resolution machinery. Often managers and supervisors are trained how to handle employees emotional problems and grievances.

To make organization an open system interacting with its environment and. To become aware of competition, other potential threats and constraining factors.
