Details about Column & Raft Foundation.

Column: A column generally a compression member supporting beams

and slabs in a structural system and having an effective length exceeding three times the least lateral dimension. A column may be considered to be short when its effective length does not exceed 12 times the least lateral dimension. If the ratio of effective length to least lateral dimension exceeds 12, the column is considered as long as or slender for design purposes.

b)
I. II. III.

Types of column.
Column can be classified as. Column with Longitudinal and Lateral ties. Column with Longitudinal steel and spiral. Complete in which structural steel section are encased in concrete. These types of column are used for heavy load .

C)

Load on Column.
Column in a Building frame are subjected to the following loads.

I. II. III.

Live load on the floor supported by the column. Dead weight of floor and beam supported by the Column. Self weight of the Column.

Foundation Layout:
Raft and Isolated combine footing is used. Example: Isolated F8 which dia is 500mm. Pedestal size along Px 800, Py 800 and Pz 400mm also included with Lx 3200 and Ly 3200 are footing size which depth are D= 600 and De= 250 and that Reinforcement parallel to Lx is 12#@125c/c and Ly is 12#@125c/c.

Details about Staircases.

Stairs consist of steps arranged in a series for purpose of go to different floors of a building.

Types of staircases.
a) b) c) d) Dog-legged. Open-well. Isolated Cantilever type. Double Cantilever precast tread slab.

Load on Staircases.
The various types of loads to be resisted by the staircases are grouped under Dead load and Live Load.

Effective span of stair: flight is support at the end by landing beams the effective
span is the projected horizontal distance between the center lines of Beam.

Distribution of Loading.
The Distribution of Load on Stair and landing slab depend upon spanning of the Stair flight and the landing Slab. the type of

Hook length:
The length of standard hook =9 x Diameter of steel bar.

Additional length required for Bent up Bars.

It is a difference of hypotenuse and base=d/sin -d/tan Where d is the vertical distance between the center of upper and lower arms of bent up bars. It is equal to total length of beam or slab minus of top and bottom cover minus Dia of bar and is the angle of bent up.
