Bio-Products Process
The Bio-Products Process was developed
to accomplish the large-scale processing
of MSW and maximize the recovery of
recyclable materials in an economically
and environmentally sound manner.
Bio-Products Process
Description
 Waste is delivered to Bio-Products Facility.
 Waste is unloaded onto tipping floor.
 Presort out oversize bulky materials (5-
10%).
 Convey presorted waste into process
vessels.
 Seal process vessels pressure tight.
 Agitate waste within sealed vessels.
 Vent air from vessels by injecting steam.
 Close vent and pressurize vessels to 50-60
psig with steam while agitating.
Bio-Products Process
Description
 Maintain pressure at 50-60 psig for 30-45
minutes.
 Vent excess moisture and volatiles while
maintaining pressure and agitating wastes.
 Depressurize vessels via the vent and capture
the vented volatiles for destruction.
 Open vessels and discharge processed waste
to separation equipment.
 Separate components by size, density,
magnets, eddy currents, and manual sorting.
