. A typical job shop is a high-mix, low-volume (HMLV) production unit that simultaneously processes several diverse, low-quantity jobs using shared resources.

The jobs have different routings, due dates, priorities, quantities, and material and resource requirements.

Make-to-order(MTO), Maintenance, Repair and operation (MRO) systems are examples of job shop production (JSP) system

Drawbacks Of Job shop Production

1.

2.

3. 4. 5. 6.

No two operations of one job may be processed simultaneously. No preemption (process interruption) of operation is allowed. No job is processed twice on the same machine. Each job must be processed to completion. Jobs may be started at any time, no release times exist. Jobs may be finished at any time, no due dates exist.

7. 8.

Jobs must wait for the next machine to be available. No machine may process more than one operation at a time. Machine setup times are negligible. There is only one of each type of machine. Machines may be idle within the schedule time period. Machines are available at any time.

13.

The technological constraints are known in advance and are immutable. The product is expensive due to high costs of raw materials and labor. The machines are less automated which allow to be checked as a working progress. Fabrics and components can be bought in bulk it is bought for the product specification. As the components are only bought for the demand they will be more expensive thats why customer buys in small quantities. It requires specialist type of workers

Recommendations For Job shop Production(JSP) System :

`

At the time beginning, all work and workstations must be ready to start and processing the jobs.

` `

Each job is allowed to visit any workstation. Every job is the job shop is considered as non-natural ant.

If there are various kinds of the jobs shop at the same time, then every job will remain its own place on its tracing line.
A TECHNICAL REPORT OF JOBSHOP PRODUCTION SYSTEM AT KTDMC

Every job can be passed through special working place only once during its production sequence. Therefore coming back to a special working place is forbidden.

The time used for any process on every workstation is divided into two groups; one portion is the time needed for transportation, working station preparation and working setup on these working time, which is the time needed on the working station.

Works should not have any predetermined priority to each other.

A TECHNICAL REPORT OF JOBSHOP PRODUCTION SYSTEM AT KTDMC

Setting up and processing time of each process on any working station determined.

The sequence and arrangement of the process which are being done on in any way are determined.

Interruption of a process when it is being done on a working station is forbidden, until the process is completed.

Suggestions to company:
1.

Company should implemented jobs cops software for time scheduling for job shop production.

2.

Company should hire experts people so it has no difficulty to hire people on contingency or on basis of emergency to handle the automated machines and other vulnerable equipments.

3.

Permanent employees should be motivated as they can work easily and trustworthy by providing incentives. Company must make an incentive scheme which motivates people. With doing this turnover of the employees can be reduced.

5.

KTDMC imports the raw material from abroad. Therefore the situation of our country is not same in every time. Company should not depends on importing of raw material and but should contact with local vendors in compromise of quality of material.

6.

Company should look local market to purchase of raw material because company bears heavy duty on importing of raw material from abroad or should purchase raw material form neighbor country on the basis of free trade liberalization.

5.

Job design concept should be implemented. Because every employees will get knowledge from nature of the jobs and he would be experts along with employees will not complaint of dislike of the job especially for that do computer jobs. Coordination between teaching staff and manufacturing unit should be unbiased and teaching staff should share knowledge with working staff.

6.

A TECHNICAL REPORT OF JOBSHOP PRODUCTION SYSTEM AT KTDMC

KTDMC has dilemma of customers preference and uncertainty of customers coming because job shop production depends on customer orders and job is not produced on large volume. Company should make strong marketing and create links to competitors customers and should inform them availability of their products and service.
