INTRODUCTION The main aim of the project is to design and develop and automatic location identification system using the speech processing system with the Matlab interface in the real time environment. We use GSM technology and symbian os implemented in nokia phones.

OTHER TECHNOLOGIES USED IN TRACKING

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) 2. Global Positioning System (GPS) 3. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) 4. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
1.

GIS: Geographic information systems can capture, store, analyze and report geographic information. GPS: A constellation of 27 Earthorbiting satellites. A GPS receiver can locate four or more of these satellites deduce the location through trilateration.

RFID: Small, battery-less microchips. The reader transmits radio waves that activate the RFID tag. The tag then transmits information via a predetermined radio frequency. WLAN: Network of devices that connect via radio frequency, such as 802.11b. These devices pass data over radio waves and provide users with a network with a range of 70 to 300 feet.

DRAWBACKS
GIS: Inappropriate for location tracking. Requires large storing devices. GPS: Require an active data connection. High equipment cost. Not fully miniaturized.

RFID: Cannot tell the difference between one reader and another. Easy to jam using energy at the right frequency. RFID tags are difficult to remove. WLAN: Range is small (300ft). Implementation cost is more.

GSM TECHNOLOGY
Global System for Mobile communications is a popular standard for mobile phones. The signaling and speech channels are digital. There are five different cell sizes in a GSM networkmacro, micro, pico, femto and umbrella cells. One of the key features of GSM is the Subscriber Identity Module. The modulation used in GSM is Gaussian minimum-shift keying (GMSK).

IMPLEMENTATION
Develop program using matlab to understand commands. SPI converts signals suitable for microcontroller logic circuits. End the micro controller will read the data and send the same to the GSM modem. GSM modem send the message to cell phone. Symbian software identify the location and send the SMS back to the user immediately.

USER INTERFACE

Converts signals from an RS-232 serial port to signals suitable for use in TTL compatible digital logic circuits. Dual driver/receiver and typically converts the RX, TX, CTS and RTS signals. The receivers reduce RS232 inputs to standard 5 V TTL levels.

MATLAB

SYMBIAN

MATLAB (matrix laboratory) is a numerical computing environment and fourthgeneration programming language. It allows plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms. It allows creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, Java, and Fortran.

Symbian is a mobile operating system (OS) and computing platform designed for smartphones and currently maintained by Nokia. Symbian includes a user interface component. The Symbian kernel (EKA2) supports sufficiently fast realtime response The OS is optimised for lowpower battery-based devices.

APPLICATION

Used to monitor kids movements Used to track the vehicles Used in person tracker Used in wild life research Used in defense
