Safety in the Workplace

Purpose

This policy ensures that safety is effectively integrated into the xxxx [deliberately obscured] Knowledge Base, in order to prevent personal injury or equipment/property damage. This policy also applies to completing Job Hazard Analysis, which shall be executed by the Program Manager before starting work.

Scope

This policy applies to all xxxx employees or subcontractors engaging in activities at a clients site. Personnel are responsible for contributing to safety in the workplace.

Workplace Safety

xxxx employees or subcontractors shall be committed to minimizing risks to personnel, assets, and the environment. Open two-way communication shall be maintained at all times regarding safety concerns. xxxx employees or subcontractors who notice hazards or other safety problems, or feel they require specific training, shall notify xxxx management. This safety Policy will be upheld and followed in addition to any similar client policies, procedures, and SOPs.

Workplace Safety (cont.)


The Program Manager shall perform the following: Administer this Safety Program Assist with health and safety training of employees and subcontractors Require employees or subcontractors to use individual protective equipment and safety devices Conduct routine and unannounced inspections to identify unsafe conditions and direct correction of unsafe conditions Carry out disciplinary action for repeat violators of safety rules Inform xxxx clients following serious or reportable accidents, and take action to eliminate accident causes Investigate accidents within area of responsibility Assist with accident reviews and ensure reports are completed and submitted.

All employees and subcontractors shall: Be familiar with health and safety practices as mandated by clients Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, with emphasis on Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations Use required safety devices and personal protective equipment (PPE) Identify, report, and eliminate hazards Notify the Program Manager immediately in the event of accidents, injuries, incidents, or upon observing unsafe working conditions

Accident and Incident Reporting


xxxx will report any accident, injury, or incident involving xxxx personnel. Accident investigations will consist of:
Interviews with witnesses as soon as possible after occurrence Interview with victim Assessment of cause Recommendations to prevent future occurrence

Industrial Workplace Safety Rules


Always report unsafe conditions to the Program Manager Promptly report accidents, injuries, or incidents to the Program Manager Use eye protection where required Loose clothing and jewelry shall never be worn Know locations of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and emergency showers Operate machines only when guards and safety devices are in place and working properly Follow lockout/tagout procedures Always follow client policies and procedures regarding safety

Disciplinary Policy
It is the policy of xxxx to provide a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment for everyone. Failure to comply with safety policies and procedures will result in:
Verbal warnings Written warnings Termination

Training
The Program Manager shall complete a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) prior to starting any task within a client site The JHA will evaluate specific hazards or potential safety risks All safety concerns will be addressed in documented training Training will include:
Applicable regulations/standards for their job Recognition and prevention of unsafe conditions How to use PPE Procedural controls and precautions that will be followed to maintain completely safe operations
