Logistics
The Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) provides logistic support functions to the British Army. It is the largest Corps in the Army, comprising around 17% of its strength. The Royal Logistics Corps has over 16,000 soldiers and officers working and operating in regiments of every type. The RLC works all over the world, in all conditions and it is their job to make sure everything is set up correctly and safely: On land, sea and in the air Night and day In rain, shine and snow In mountains, desert, built up areas and jungle terrain Every Soldier in the Corps is trained as a frontline soldier and is able to survive.

Distribution
The logistics are required to distribute equipment or important documents to other Units of The Army.
The Logistics take Equipment such as: food, water, ammunition, fuel, clothing, weapons etc. In big trucks to the soldiers fighting at the Front line. The Logistics also pass over important documents to higher ranked officers. They also give mail to the soldiers from home.

Roles And Responsibilities


The Logistics Corps have four main roles and responsibilities, these are to. Supply- The Right Equipment to the Right People at the Right Time. Distribute- Give out Ammunition, food and water to the Army and are also
one of the Regiments assigned to dealing with Humanitarian Aid.

Maritime- Transporting Equipment to the Rest of the Army, by truck,


motorbike, helicopter or by sea.

Catering- Cook and clean for the rest of the Army

Why the Royal Logistic Corps is important to the Army


The Royal Logistics Corps is one of the most important regiments in the Army because their role is to make sure that the Army is always organised. They have to make sure that every soldier is correctly equipped. This could range from distributing Tanks and weapons to the soldiers at the frontline, to tools and machinery to the engineers at the camps. The RLC cater for the rest of the Armed Forces, making sure that the soldiers are eating healthy and well. The RLC also make sure that the camps are clean and tidy. The RLC also act as mail men and deliver messages/ letters from home to the soldiers and vice versa. They also deliver trucks/ bikes/ helicopters etc.

Recent Deployments
The Royal Logistics Corps are currently deployed in Afghanistan, making sure that the infantry on the frontline are supplied with equipment and rations. The RLC are also on standby to assist the soldiers on the frontline as back encase the soldiers are ambushed. The RLC also deliver mail to the soldiers.

The RLC are currently deployed in the following locations: UK and Northern Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Kosovo and Bosnia, Canada, USA, Belize, Falkland Islands, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Afghanistan, Brunei and Nepal.

Conflict
During a Conflict/Warfare the British Army need to operate various units to ensure that the objective is done correctly. The main units that are operated during conflict are:

Infantry war fighting and peace keeping, and at the heart of military operations.
Main objective is to seize and hold territories. Air Corps- protect and guide the infantry, give reconnaissance to the infantry and destroy any anti-armor and strongholds.

Engineers

main function is to make sure that all vehicles and aircraft are always up to date and ready to be operated. They also engage combat with infantry, however, their main role is to destroy buildings, tanks, trucks. Engineers mainly destroy minefields such as I.E.Ds, mines explosives, and dangerous weapons such as RPGs etc. they also build and destroy bridges. They also build houses and huts for the soldiers to living in whilst on tour/duty. The engineers also give out humanitarian aid to the villagers and civilians.

Artillery provide cover and support from distance. Can destroy buildings and
bunkers from range. Work with the infantry so that they are aware of how accurate the rounds they are firing are

Logistics

the Logistics have four main functions (supply, distribute, maritime and catering). Therefore the Logistics make sure that the army have the right equipment to the right people at the right time. The logistics cater for the rest of the army and provide food, water, fuel, ammunition, vehicles and equipment to the soldiers at the frontline.

Infantry
Consists of 36 regular battalions and 14 territorial battalions and forms 18 regiments Based on regiments with one or more regular battalions and in most case associated TA battalions. Main Function war fighting and peace keeping, and at the heart of military operations. Main objective is to seize and hold territories. Infantry units have more physically demanding training than other branches of armies, and place a greater emphasis on discipline, fitness, physical strength and aggression.

Roles And Responsibilities


During Conflict an Infantry soldier has four major roles and responsibilities, these are: Front Line Fighting Fighting at the front of the battlefield to gain territory and seize major strong holds. Peace Keeping to prevent any major civil outbreaks from occurring . To protect the civilians from hostile threats and to show the civilians that what they are doing is correct and will benefit the civilians and that the soldiers are there to help. Protecting National SecurityHumanitarian Aid to give the civilians aid such as food, water, medical help, blankets, clothing etc. this is important as it shows the civilians that they are there to help them.

Importance to the British Army


The Infantry are most probably the important regiment in the entire Army. The infantry are the backbone of the British Army . Without Infantry, the British Army wouldnt be able to engage in any conflicts as its the Infantry soldiers that are fighting against the opposition throughout the conflict. They gain territory's and strongholds of the opposition and without that the British Army would gain any advantages on their enemy.

Infantry over the best support/cover to any of the other regiments and can operate at anytime.
Every soldier in every regiment is trained to be an Infantry soldier first so without them no other units will be able to operate effectively as none of the soldier would be Combat trained.

Royal Engineers

Bomb Disposal
EOD Bomb Disposal Engineers are experts in the safe disposal of unexploded ordnance, such as mines, shells and bombs that may be left on the battlefield after a conflict.

In peacetime, they apply their expertise to clear and make safe civilian areas. Bomb disposal soldiers are trained specifically to trace and detonate explosive devices. They have their own specific unit of soldiers They operate by using dogs that have specialized training to discover IEDS.
Training Before you can become a Bomb Disposal specialist, you must first complete soldier or officer training, Combat Engineer training and then trade training (soldiers only). You should then be qualified specialise in Bomb Disposal.

Basic Field Engineering - Knots & lashings,

Water Supply - The production and distribution of


drinkable water.

Demolitions - The use of explosives.


Force Protection - The construction of protective structures and defensive obstacles.

Watermanship - The safe operation of military


assault craft and outboard motors.

Mine Warfare - The location and clearance of


explosive devices.

Bridging - The construction of purpose-made and


improvised bridges to overcome wet and dry gap obstacles.

Importance to the Army


The Royal Engineers are one of the most important Regiments in the Army as they build every piece of equipment used by the British Army. The REs also make sure that every tank/ truck/ aircraft etc. is up to date with the latest technology and weaponry and is ready to be sent into stationed. Without the REs the British Army wouldnt be able to function effectively as the engineers build together all vehicles and heavy armour and other equipment such as weapons, attachments etc. also the REs are trained specialists to remove explosives and minefields. Without the REs there would be a lot more deaths to the British soldiers by roadside bombs.

Recent Deployments
The Royal Engineers have been high praised for their work in Afghanistan. They are responsible for recruiting and training members of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan National Police (ANP), as well as managing more than 200 infrastructure projects including the building of new police stations, training camps etc. The Royal Engineers are currently in Uganda and parts of South Africa helping to build wells, water holes, shelters etc. and trying to help the people gain a better quality of living
