It is a computer-based systems (both hardware and software) that emulate human behavior.

This term was coined in 1956 by John McCarthy.

Intelligent behavior:
-Learn from experience. -Apply knowledge acquired from experience.

-Handle complex situation.

-Solve problems when important information is missing. -Determine what is important. -It is creative and imaginative

Perceptive

system

A system that approximates the way a human sees, hears and

feels objects.
Vision

system

Capture, store and manipulate visual images and pictures.

Robotics

Mechanical and computer devices that perform tasks with

high precision

Expert

system

Stores knowledge and makes inferences.

Neural

network

Computer system that can act like or simulate the functioning of the human brain.

Artificial intelligence is one of the intelligent

techniques.

AI is used in organizations to capture individual and collective knowledge and to extend their knowledge. -Expert systems -Case-based reasoning -Fuzzy logic

EXPERT SYSTEM:
These systems capture the knowledge of skilled employees in the form of a set rules in a software system that can be used by others in the

organization.

Knowledge base:
Stores all relevant information data, rules, cases and relationship used

by the expert system.

Fuzzy logic:
and does not require everything to be simply yes/no, or true/false.

A specialty research area in computer science that allows shades of gray

Artificial intelligence includes:

Games playing: Programming computers to play games such as chess and checkers.

Expert systems: programming computers to make decisions

in real-life situations (Ex. Expert systems help doctors diagnose diseases based on system)

Natural language: Programming computers to understand

natural human languages. Robotics: Programming computers to see and hear and react other sensory stimuli.

There are several programming languages that are known as AI languages because they are used almost exclusively for AI application. The two most common

are
-LISP -Prolog

LISP: (LIST PROCESSOR)

It is a high-level programming language especially for

AI application.

It was developed in the early 1960s by John McCarthy.

Prolog:

Prolog is based on defining and then solving logical formulas.

It is also called as declarative language or rule-based

language.

Because it consist of a list of facts and rules. It is widely used in expert systems.

The area of artificial intelligence is neural networks, which are proving successful in a number of disciplines such as voice recognition and natural-language

processing.

No computers exhibit full artificial intelligence. The greatest advances have occurred in the field of games playing.
