USESS OF SCAN DISK------Scandisk is normally used or run to scan for errors in hard drives and other removable drives. Due to the duty imposed on computer drives, they normally develop some errors which reduce efficiency and effectiveness. These errors come from not properly shutting down the computer, poor opening and closing of files, etc. When this happens, Check Disk is firstly recommended; then Scandisk is finally recommended when the errors become too tough for Check Disk.

- Bad Sectors are marked and fixed: If a bad sector is unfixable, it leaves it but ensures no file stay in it. Bad sectors are normally generated on drives when the computer is not properly shut down. These errors can cause malfunctioning of software packages and inefficiency of the overall system. -Errors are fixed:Bad sectors are not the only kinds of errors in the computer. We also have errors like bad allocation of files in the file tables, corrupt files, etc. Scandisk is also able to spot these errors and fix them.

-Correcting Damaged Files:Due to errors on drives, files are sometimes damaged. Scandisk is good at correcting such anomalies. It spots the damaged files and corrects them making them usable again.

These include: frequent system crashes critical system applications that have been improperly closed the existence of harmful programs such as viruses, trojans, etc. While Scan Disk is running, it checks the hard disk for defects in its platters (these are round flat steel plates in the hard drive on which data is stored). It also checks file systems (FAT, FAT32, NTFS, etc.). It searches and corrects the lost and bad clusters that were created when a certain program was aborted.
