Introduction
Born in an old Parsi family of Bombay on December 28th 1937, Ratan Naval Tata is the chairman of the Tata Group of Industries. He is the latest in a long line of Tatas to head the family business. He received Bachelor's degree in architecture from Americas Cornell University in 1962.

He returned to India and joined the Tata Group.

He is known to be a supporter of the traditional Parsi way of life. He has a passion for home cooked food and is known to indulge deeply in art collection. A trained pilot who still takes to the skies on his own aircraft has picked up a number of awards. He is known to slip into the front seat alongside his driver to and from work.

TATA GROUP
The Tata group consists of more than 100 companies.(30 companies are publically listed). Tata group is a multinational conglomerate and one of the largest private companies in India. Today, it has a strength of 350,000 employees all over the world and an estimated annual turnover of $98.6 billion US Dollars. Tatas contribution to Indias GDP is nearly 5.5% and more than 2/3 of its revenue comes from foreign countries. Tata group was always known for its business ethics and corporate governance.

Why RatanTata is not in Worlds Billionaire list...

The reason is that:TATA Group's companies are held by its main Company "TATA Sons" and the owner of this TATA Sons is not Ratan Tata but various charitable organizations developed and run by TATA Group. Out of which JRD TATA Trust & Sir Ratan Tata Trust are the main. 65% ownership of TATA Sons which is the key holding company of the other TATA Group Companies, is held by these charitable organizations

So this 65% ownership of Tata Sons Limited is not reflected on Ratan Tata's personal Financial Statement but on the various charitable organizations. And this is the reason why Ratan Tata is not in the list of Billionaire club.

So, If we put this 65% ownership of Tata Sons in Ratan Tata's own personal financial statement then Ratan Tata's Net worth can become more than $ 70 billion, and that's much more than the Warren Buffet's Net Worth of $ 62 billion. (2008*)

Awards and Recognition

Padma Vibhushan on 26 January 2008 Padma Bhushan on 26 January 2000. NASSCOM Global Leadership on February 14 2008 in Mumbai. The Government of Singapore conferred honorary citizenship on RatanTata, Fortune magazine in November 2007, listed him among the 25 most powerful business man. Time magazine's 2008, listed him the World's 100 most influential people .

RatanTata is well known and highly praised for his
