SWADESH- WE THE PEOPLE

A movie analysis to understand the various aspects of a leader.

Never loses any oppurtunity

A good leader is always ready to en-cash oppurtunities. When the movie show is interrupted by power outage and everything goes bizarre, he takes up the opportunity to convince people and show them the strength of unity.

He has Motivational Skills

He motivated all the villagers to send their children to school. He explored all horizons, met all prospects, and one way or the other convinced them to send their kids to school.

Sense of responsibility

He was responsible towards his duties , so he delegated his powers to the subordinates before going to KAVVERIAMMA .. This shows Leadership quality i.e., responsiveness towards duties

Temperate personality

Followers dont respect an intemperant leader,, so to be an effective leader a person should be temperate so that he can handle any situation calmly and temperately.. Mohan tried to convince parents of every single children in village for education but his attempt turned into failure , then also he doesnt lost his temper

Loyality
The leader who is not loyal to his trust, and to his associates, those above him, and those below him, cannot long maintain his leadership..

While Mohan was going back to America for completion of his work,, at that time Kaveriamma and Geeta stopped him but he doesnt paid attention to them and showed loyality towards his work

IS EMPATHATIC AS WELL AS HELPFUL

He not only listens to the problems of the others, but also tries to understand them. When haridasji tells mohan about his problems, mohan not only gives him a sympathetic ear( like mela ram) but also offers him help(by giving him some money).

IS SYMPATHETIC

The problems of haridasji and the other poor population of india touched mohan deeply, and he could not help stop thinking about it and felt for them.

TAKES HIS STAND WITHOUT FEAR OF OPPOSITION

Mohan took his stand on the matter of problems in India that the villagers failed to see and took his stand even when everyone else stood against him. He even tried to explain them the reasons of the problems. They were adamant towards change.

TRIES TO BRING ABOUT CHANGE

Mohan was not afraid to tell the villagers about their faults and the problems they faced but chose to ignore them and accepted it as their destiny. This is a very good example of resistance and change management.

TAKES INITIATIVE AND USES THE AVAILABLE RESOURCES OPTIMALLY

Mohan took initiative to solve the problem of the villagers. He saw opportunity in the waterfall (this can also be attributed to his technical competencies) and decided to generate power in the village. He also decided to use the resources available in the village optimally (eg. The waterfall, the village labour etc.

BELIEVES IN SKILL BASED DIVISION OF LABOUR

Mohan divided the work among the villagers according to their skills and know how. This very well shows his planning and organizing skills. He also laid stress on the best way of doing a job.

ALWAYS KEEPS ON LEARNING

A leader never let go of an opportunity to learn a new skill. He considers life to be an ever learning experience. In context of mohan, when the woman was doing a job he observed and asked her if he could also do it.

FACES DIFFICULTY WITH GRIT AND DETERMINATION

A leader does not loses heart in the face of difficulty. When the voltage stated falling mohan did not lose heart instead he went ahead and tried to find the problem in the tank and then solved it.

LIGHTS THE HOPE OF PEOPLE

Mohan was the reason that everyone was celebrating. He was the reason that an old woman could light her house with an electric bulb. And he was the reason that dadaji could die in peace.

Focussed

Mohans aim was to bring back his nanny, Kaveriamma, and he was focused. He did whatever he could to achieve his goal. Crossed all hurdles on the way to realize his goal.
